When you're watching or reading a series, especially if you're marathoning it, you may become overwhelmed with different emotions and sometimes your judgment may change. Well I've watched plenty of anime and some of these series nearly changed my profession because how cool they made their job or talent look so damn cool. Here are 7 times I almost chose a different career path.
Reborn is the story of a young Japanese boy who is posed to be the 10th Generation Boss of the prestigious Vongola Mafia Family. Not only that but he has 6 Guardians who wield different powerful flames such as Storm, Sun, Cloud, Mist, Rain, and Lightning. Together they face other Mafia threats. Sun Ken Rock is the story of Ken who move to South Korea because his high school crush moves there to become a police officer. Once there he doesn't have the courage to tell her and eventually goes broke barely making ends meet. He eventually meets Tae Soo Park who recruits Ken for his gang but eventually Ken takes over as a leader. Sun Ken Rock is a lot more tied to the Mafia and Gangster scene compared to Reborn but both inspired me to almost create my own gang right here in Chicago. I had the perfect plan and even had people on mind to carry out the gang's needs. But I remembered that if I were in a gang I wouldn't have time to watch One Piece and if I died or went to jail, there would be no more One Piece for me.
Bakuman
I've only read the first volume of Bakuman but it's inspired me so much. I write Poetry and Stories. You can read my work here, here and here. I've been writing long before I read the first volume but when I did read it, I felt the indescribable urge to become the greatest writer of all time. In the series friends Takagi and Mashiro who aim to be manga artist. Mashiro's crush wants to become a voice actress and Mashiro proposes to her saying they should get married when they've all reached their dream. From then on they go about making that a reality. While reading it, I was shook. The manga motivated me to step up my own pen game and create my own stable of writers, dancers, voice actresses and so on. Never have I felt so enlightened and unlike the other series on the list, this one continues to inspire me to this day. Its written by the men who brought us Death Note so you know it's great. I need to finish the rest of the series and hone my skills.
So those are my inspirations. What anime or show inspired you to attempt or actually fulfill a desire? Did it inspire you to get a boyfriend/girlfriend? Become an athlete or just wreck something or someone? Let me know in the comments below or on my Twitter.
Beck - Mongolian Chop Squad
Beck focuses on the young teen Koyuki who's a lame in every regard but one of his best friends it s a popular and hot girl. He feels inferior to her but then he meets the Overseas sensation Ryusuke who's making his own band. Through Ryusuke he finds his passion for music and wants to be in a band. The way the anime handles the characters and their daily life through their struggles and then passion for music is amazing. Sometimes when I watched I forgot I was watching an anime but something more realistic. I've always loved music but this show made me want to run out the house and start a band with the first person I meet. I love Rock but never had I ever wanted to be a rock star until I watched this anime. I even bought a guitar. Now it just sits in my shed.
Kuroko No Basket
When the first season of Kuroko no Basket came out everyone was going crazy over it. I decided to give it a shot and was blown away in the first 3 episodes. Kagami comes from America to play basketball and joins the Seirin basketball team along with one of the Generation of Miracles, Kuroko. In the first three episodes they play a mock game with Kaijo High who have another Generation of Miracles, Kise. The way Kise and Kagami balled in that game got me hyped to all hell. The animation is so crisp in logging all of the ball, hand, and muscle movements of all the characters. It was almost as if I was watching a real game. On top of that we were seeing some crazy dunks, 3's and layups. IT got me so hyped that I started working out and almost tried out for my High School's basketball team. Then I remembered my basketball team was ass. I was better off joining the girls team cause they were great players. Long story short, I was almost out here breaking people's ankles over an anime.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn/Sun Ken Rock

The Breaker
I love Martial Arts and Swordsmen series but this series is the only one to make me want to actually take up Karate or something related. After seeing how intricate and complex the world of Murim made Martial Arts, I was ready to jump in and become stronger myself. I really wanted to take Shiwoon's place as Gomooryong's disciple because he's a bitch. I was filling out applications and searching for a good martial arts class but I never did take one. I was too busy trying to talk to this girl to fully recognize myself as a true martial artist. I wasn't dedicated to the cause.
Air Gear
The world of Air Gear is amazing. People battle each other using skates. The more teams you beat the higher you go in the ranking and eventually the top of the card. Not only that but the skates themselves are cool as hell. I don't know where it comes for but these people have super powers coming out of their skates. Some people are either getting their shit wrecked or killed playing these games. All of this sounds like my type of part. I would love to risk my life over some skates. The adrenaline rush from playing would be enough to satisfy me. I didn't buy any skates but I used my brothers to practice on the street. After a week of falling on my ass I decided to stop cause ass on concrete isn't fun.
Hajime No Ippo
This series here had me on the edge of my couch and bed several times with its high octane fighting and suspense. Seeing Ippo go from some Loser to the biggest boxer in Japan in his weight class, even holding the JBC Featherweight Championship. George Morikawa is a genius in the way he paces each fight while having a massive story being told at the same time. Ippo's grind itself is so realistic that I almost signed up for a Boxing Gym. I was prepared to run long distances carrying a tire on my back, I had the boxer diet down and was even telling my mother how much I wanted to be a boxer. That all faded when I saw Miyata get his foot broken and his shit rocked all in one match. Even so when I read new chapters of Ippo, I still get motivated to become a boxer, though I never will.
