EXID - Ah Yeah Mini Album Review

It all started with one song. A song that came out back in the middle of August. The name of that song was UP&DOWN by Korean Girl Group EXID. With its release it didn't garner much attention but a fancam of one of the members, Hani, made the song explode. It rose on the charts and got them several wins on music programs. With the success of UP&DOWN, EXID have released their second mini album "Aw Yeah".

To keep up their popularity the title song "Ah Yeah" is supposed to be similar to UP&DOWN. These two songs are similar yet very different. Even though it is very upbeat, Ah Yeah is more aggressive. The girls aren't asking for love or being the damsel in distress but more of the operator. I can't say I like one is better than the other but I personally like Ah Yeah more. The music video for Ah Yeah is definitely better. I can say that Shinsadong Tiger and LE are a great producer pair.

The other songs are just as new and refreshing. For EXID to be a more pop group, some of the songs are based on Hip Hop. Pat Pat and With Out U are these two songs. You can really feel the energy in these songs. Nothing seems to be a copy of anything or comes off as poserish. These girls really can give you some nice R&B and Hip Hop tracks. These two songs are similar to the songs on Miss A's album Colors. The addition of a more urban song helps the album so much and its so refreshing. These two songs are competing for which is my favorite.

The remaining tracks Thrilling, 1M, and Every Night Version 2 are on the ballad side. EXID once again prove that they are more than a silly one hit wonder pop group. These songs are well written and produced. Anyone can relate to them as well. The vocals and pitch are great as well. Solji's voice proves to be the best in the group. LE's husky and low voice proves to be sexy even when she talks of her heartbreak. Who ever breaks her heart should be sentenced to death by 1 million tongue lashes.

Overall this is a great mini album. I can not find myself letting this album go. It has so much flavor and diversity to it. It has infinite replay ability. I think EXID have found their sound and they should roll with it. They have settled in as a contending group now. I can not wait to see what EXID does in the future. Right now ,in my opinion, Miss A and EXID are battling for girl group mini album of the year. I highly recommend this album so go listen to it or you might want to watch your tongue.
