Tombstone
Lonnie Lincoln had a rough childhood to say the least. He grew up in Harlem, New York and was a victim of bullying his entire life. While his pig like nose may seem like the biggest cause of bullying, it wasn't. His biggest problem was that he was the only black albino in all of Harlem. This caused Lonnie to begin working out to get bigger and actively taking on an angrier persona. Initially it was because he wanted to survive by doing whatever necessary. But, eventually that all changed. He started extorting money from other children. Despite that he was still lonely and welcomed the friendship of Robbie (Joe) Robertson. Only for Robertson to eventually publish an article in the school paper about how Lonnie was nothing more than a sociopath. Lonnie found Robertson and threatened him until he printed a retraction.When high school was over Lonnie only got worse. He filed his teeth until they were pointy, purposely damaged his vocal chords so he could only speak in a snarling whisper and other modifications to his body to become more intimidating. During this time Lonnie trained to increase his fighting and marksman abilities while working as an enforcer and assassin for a local mob boss as well as participating in unsanctioned fights. This is also when he got the name Tombstone.
One assassination job was to kill Isadore Kipper who was an informant with information about a murder a mob boss had committed. Tombstone killed Kipper only to notice that Robertson was watching. Robertson had been working for a local newspaper where he was going to leak the story. Tombstone threatened him with death if he didn't keep quiet. The two attempted to go their separate ways but fate continued to bring them together.
At this point in life Tombstone decided to move to New York City and begin working for Kingpin. At this point Robertson gets a guilty conscience about never revealing the truth. So, what does Robertson do? He attempts a citizen arrest on Tombstone. That didn't go well. This is the moment when Tombstone finally decided they weren't friends anymore and actually beat Robertson. He beat him to the point where he was almost paralyzed permanently. Apparently sensing this would be the outcome Robertson had recorded the beating and passed off the info to Peter Parker who he worked with at the Daily Bugle.
Tombstone began to stalk Peter and Mary Jane to get the tape after he learned of it by threatening Robertson's family. Spider-man eventually got the win. I say eventually because despite the fact that he had no powers at the time he gave Spider-Man that work. Spider-Man expected him to simply be one of Kingpin's untrained thugs. Because of that he wasn't prepared for someone who had actually trained to fight for many years at this point. Eventually Spider-Man got the win but he did so at a cost. Tombstone is arrested for the murder of a mutant Kingpin hired him to kill and Robertson turns in the tape of his beating. At this point Tombstone lies and says Robertson helped him kill Kipper. Since there is no actual evidence to prove Robertson's innocence the two are both found guilty and share adjacent prison cells. Robertson attempts to hire protection but they just get beat down. Meanwhile Tombstone has guards and inmates working for him. Eventually under the threat of murder Robertson is forced to work for Tombstone. Robertson tricks Spider-Man to visiting the prison where he is injected with a formula that turns him into a wall, because comics. Tombstone beats him while everyone watches.Tombstone takes Spider-Man hostage and demands Robertson help him escape the prison. The two manage to escape into the woods. Robertson finally develops some courage and attacks Tombstone causing them both to fall off a cliff to what seems like a certain death. However the two were found and nursed back to health in an Amish settlement. Eventually Tombstone locks himself in a barn with Robertson so that he can finally kill him. Robertson however stabs Tombstone in the chest with a pitchfork. Tombstone flees to have his injuries treated and Lonnie returns home to his family and is pardoned for his crimes.
It's at this point that Tombstone hooked up with Hammerhead who had stopped working for Kingpin and began his own small mob operation. Hammerhead has Tombstone keep a low profile and do minimum work because he's still a wanted man. Hammerhead and Tombstone learn of a chemical Oscorp developed called Diox-3 that they wanted to use as filler in cocaine so that they could make more in the drug trade. Because using industrial chemicals with unknown qualities is a great way to make money. This is why you don't do drugs kids.
The two blackmail Molten Man, who was a former villain, but had gone straight and began working at Oscorp. When it came time to get the chemical Molten Man had betrayed the duo to Spider-Man who had informed Robertson. An all out brawl ensued between: Hammerhead, Tombstone, their goons, Spider-Man, Robertson (with a gun), Molten Man (who wanted to hide his secret), and The Green Goblin (who didn't like people snooping in his company). During the fight Robertson shot Lonnie and he fell into a vat of Diox-3. Fearing that he was dead, everyone fled the scene. That's right, Spider-Man ran from a murder scene and was going to keep it secret in conjunction with several villains and a major news reporter.
However, Tombstone's story did not end there. He actually escaped the vat alive and wandered the streets for several days confused and trying to piece together what had happened. He was attacked in an attempted robbery. It was at that point he realized some of his new abilities. He was bulletproof, he had super strength and knives just bounced off his skin. After making quick work of the attackers he walked into Hammerhead's operation and almost beat him to death before claiming the organization was his.
Tombstone invited Robertson to Hammerhead's mansion and told him that all was forgiven. Spider-Man had followed Robertson and decided to attack Tombstone. It did not go well. During the fight Spider-Man was knocked out and Hammerhead managed to get free. He began firing a machine gun at Tombstone, who laughed off the attack. A gas line ruptured and caused the mansion. Robertson, Hammerhead and Spider-Man once again decided to keep this a secret because they assumed Tombstone dead. But we all know how that goes by now.
Tombstone returned and went back to his old job as an assassin, working with The Hand. On one mission he had Daredevil attempted to prevent him from killing the Commissioner of Cultural Affairs, while The Punisher attempted to kill Tombstone, and Daredevil attempted to stop The Punisher. During the showdown Daredevil broke his hand to use a nerve pinch to stop Tombstone. While Daredevil managed to stop both Tombstone and The Punisher, they both escaped. Tombstone left The Hand shortly after and soon moved to Chicago.
That was a bad move, recently Luke Cage had also moved to Chicago. Tombstone was hired to kidnap Dakota North, a private investigator who worked with both Luke Cage and Daredevil. This was an attempt to gain more information about Luke Cage who was becoming a problem for organized crime in Chicago. The plan they came up with was to blow up The Chicago Spectator building. Luke Cage beat Tombstone senseless. They have the same basic power, but Luke is just at another level. However The Punisher made an appearance and caused trouble while trying to kill Tombstone. This caused Tombstone to get away with Dakota while Luke was dealing with The Punisher. However one of Tombstone's associates, Kickback, got nervous when he saw Luke approaching and handed Dakota over without a fight.
Defeated Tombstone headed to Las Vegas. That didn't go well. He ruined a meeting between organized crime bosses because he has morals. Yes, the drug dealing assassinating murderer has morals and attacked other mom bosses. However, Daredevil, Punisher and a vigilante named Nomad all appeared searching for different criminals. Tombstone barely escaped. During the fight The Hand attempted to kill Tombstone for leaving their ranks. However he defeated their champion Izanami and left them for Daredevil.
Things sort of go downhill from here for Tombstone. He spends some time in jail. His status as a mob boss is revoked. He's taken out be low level heroes. He's arrested again. He even fails to do small crimes like stealing an armored car. He was stopped by Kaine Parker, a Peter Parker clone that was acting as Spider-Man, who was much more vicious than Peter and caught Tombstone off guard. Eventually Tombstone decided to lay low for a while and rebuild his empire from scratch.
Tombstone began making a fortune selling Haitian Voodoo Dust as a drug. But, he was confronted by the joint forces of Gambit and of course, Spider-Man (Peter not Kaine). While he beat Gambit badly, Spider-Man was able to pull out a win. Despite being beaten multiple times, Hammerhead decided to hire Tombstone to take out another mob boss. Not surprisingly this led to a trap set by Hammerhead to take out multiple foes at once. Tombstone managed to escape and formed a group called the New Jersey Alliance. The group managed to easily defeat Daredevil's Marvel Knights. However Cloak sucked the entire New Jersey Alliance into his darkforce. Tombstone once again managed to escape and start rebuilding his empire.
It's at this time things got really bad for Tombstone. He started making a living by robbing banks and he was good at it. Always had a solid plan, always got away. That all came to an end one day when he had a heart attack during a robbery. Don't forget black people have a higher risk of heart disease. His crew left him there to suffer while having a heart attack and of course none of the people in the bank helped. The police didn't take him to a hospital, they took him straight to jail. There was no sympathy for him. However, Tombstone will not die.
Tombstone was convicted of all his crimes and sentenced to life in The Cage. A prison for super-humans that limited their abilities to normal levels. For the first time in decades, Tombstone was vulnerable and he was having a hard time adjusting. A man named Brian Hibbs, better known as the villain Kangaroo began beating and extorting Tombstone. Despite Tombstone still being very strong and agile Hibbs was a big bastard. For comparison, Tombstone is 6'7, Hibbs is 7'7, Tombstone weighs 215 pounds, Hibbs weighs 377 pounds. Tombstone was not used to fighting up three or four weight class because he thought he was in the biggest weight class.
Eventually Tombstone gave up his morals and just kicked Hibbs in the dick. Yeah, I said it, he kicked Hibbs in the dick. At this point Tombstone began to beat Hibbs viciously on the ground but Tombstone had another heart attack and Hibbs almost beat him to death while the guards watched, refusing to interfere in a fight between these two giants. Eventually Tombstone forms a gang to take out Hibbs. Eventually they cornered Hibbs and Tombstone was in the middle of stabbing him to death with a pair of scissors. The guards decided to interfere this time and through Tombstone into solitary confinement. Meanwhile Hobbs beat each member of Tombstone's gang almost to death and paralyzed some.
Tombstone gave in and began receiving treatment for his heart. Getting better, he set a trap for Hibbs that left him stuck in air vent while he finished his last surgery. Spot a man with the ability to make holes that teleport him between spaces was a member of Tombstone's gang and helped him escape. Tombstone then snapped Spot's neck for the trouble.
Things continued to go bad for Tombstone. He joined the Sinister 12 to take down Spider-Man. They thought they had Spider-Man but Spider-Man has friends and of course they got beaten. He moved to Europe hoping to start a new criminal life outside the United States. Only to be used as bait to attract Daredevil. He had Daredevil beat. He really did. Then Daredevil hit him the back of the head with a sledgehammer. Tombstone woke up in the middle of New York with no money, no respect and no one willing to hire him. He went to to work for Hobgoblin, hoping to take over his operation one day.
It didn't work right away and he basically served as a bodyguard. Doc Oct invited him to join a team with Shocker in an attempt to regain items Scorpion had stolen from them. It didn't go well and everyone was taken out by Spider-Man. Tombstone went to jail, and escaped. He was caught by Spider-Man and sent back to jail. In jail he attempted to form a bond with his daughter Janice Lincoln. He remains in jail.
