Cosmic Girls - Would You Like Album Review

Starship Entertainment's first girl group since SISTAR and Yuehua Entertainment have debuted one of the most anticipated debuts this year. 12 Member group Cosmic Girls step onto the scene. Their debut mini album is called "Would You Like" and features songs "Mo Mo Mo" and "Catch Me". The album has a total of 6 songs.

The title song Mo Mo Mo is a very cute song that may be a hit or miss with people who aren't into cute concepts. I for one am not a fan of cute concepts but I always try to pull through the lead singles. Lead singles are rarely the best song on the album anyway. Mo Mo Mo is a fairly decent song. The song seems to be about a new relationship where they're still working out the embarrassing moments. There isn't much to the lyrics. The beat is nice but doesn't have much going for it. Exy's rap was lackluster. This does nothing honestly. It isn't a banger nor is it catchy. It is just here for us to say "this is their debut song". The choreography on the other hand is pretty nice.

Catch Me is weird. From what I've gathered, the song is about a guy chasing them but on the chorus the girls state that "I'm coming". Are you being chased or not? This song was aiming to be the banger of the album but it failed. When I first heard the beat I was digging it but as the song went on it just didn't sound good. It's too repetitive and there is definitely something missing. There is no bass. Bass would add charisma and depth to this song. The only thing that stands out is Exy's rap. The choreography on the other hand is pretty good.

Tic Tock has an 8 bit sound to it and that immediately turned me off. Not much to this song at all. Take My Breath was the song that I thought would take my breath away and end this album on a good note. Not at all. I thought it would be a ballad or  slower song but then I thought it would be a banger upon the first few seconds. Wrong again. The song is relatively slower than the rest. Its better than the rest as well. I honestly think this should have been a ballad because the lyrics are pretty good. Beat is mediocre though. This song should have shown their true vocal ability but that didn't happen here or on the other songs. The 6th and final song is just a Chinese version of Mo Mo Mo. Sounds better than the original. The best song is Space Cowgirl and that is just a beat.

This album was pretty much the breaking point with this group for me. This album was supposed to make me like a group with so many members. I think the ideal number is 5 but the cut of for me is 7. After that and I don't care. There are some that make it through like Girls Generation and Super Junior but overall no. Seventeen are pretty decent. With this album there is no point in listening to it again nor them again. It was mediocre and didn't stand out in any fashion. Starship has great talent and good debuts but this debut isn't that good. I'm not taking anything away from the girls talent wise but the product isn't that memorable. Hopefully whatever they come back with next is way better. I rate this album a 2/5.
