No WWE, The Best Women’s Wrestling is Not All in WWE

Recently, NXT Honcho Triple H made very controversial and condescending remarks about women’s wrestling outside of WWE, particularly the indies and NWA’s upcoming all-women’s PPV event. Here’s what he said about women’s wrestling outside of WWE:

Yeah, if you want to wrestle the best women in the world, come to the WWE. That’s where they are. If you want to go elsewhere and say that they are, that’s an opinion, and you can, but it is what it is. While I’m all for it, I was one of the biggest drivers of it [WWE Evolution], and will we do another all-women’s event down the line? Possibly. But you know, it’s not the must-have of the moment. I think we do an amazing job of displaying our female athletes and is it perfect? No. Will it always be in flux? Yes. But I think we do a pretty good job and in my opinion, again, my opinion, the best female performers in the world are in WWE, and if they’re not, they want to be.

Here’s my take regarding those comments about women’s wrestling outside of WWE: First of all, not all of the best women’s wrestling is in WWE because some of the best female wrestlers are not even in WWE from Kiera Hogan, Tasha Steelz, Big Swole, Trish Adora, Willow Nightingale, Deonna Purazzo, Jordynne Grace, Britt Baker, Alysin Kay, Thunder Rosa, Red Velvet, La Rosa Negra, and the list goes on and on.

And second, why in the world are you and the other sexist white male corporate doucebags in WWE getting mad when women demand to have their own event? Besides, there have been so many predominantly white male match cards throughout wrestling history and even today when you look at most of the wrestlers match cards today, there’s a massive imbalance between the number of men’s matches vs the number of women’s matches on the WWE main roster and AEW Dynamite even on the indie scene, 80% of wrestling matches are men’s and 20% of them are women’s and I believe that there should be all-women’s shows to help balance things out.

There are very few indie promotions here in The States that only feature women’s wrestling and properly showcase their amazing talents in the ring unlike The WWE main roster and AEW. Those promotions are Thunder Rosa’s “Mission Pro Wrestling” in Texas, SHIMMER, Women’s Wrestling Revolution in the northeast , and the brand new all women’s indie wrestling promotion here in Alabama called “The BellaDonna Division”.

Let’s be honest, the women’s wrestling on the current WWE main roster is absolutely atrocious because many women’s matches on the main roster like the recent Carmella/Liv matches on Smackdown are mostly meaningless 3-5 minute squash matches that are completely rushed and women’s segments on RAW such as Asuka/Super Charlotte/Rhea and The Alexa/Shayna angle is downright atrocious and is not a positive representation of women’s wrestling on the main WWE shows at all.

And speaking of AEW, the white guys in gorilla still heavily undervalue women’s wrestling in that company despite having the best women’s match in the company’s short history between Britt Baker/Thunder Rosa in the first ever women’s main event match on a special episode of Dynamite which is easily one of the top 5 best women’s wrestling matches of all time and in 2021 for me personally. Like the WWE main roster, most women’s matches in AEW Dynamite are a 1 match a week checkbox in which they completely rushed that absolutely does nothing to build up the women in that division nor do they put much emphasis on character development in that division.

On the topic of all-women wrestling events, a brand new indie wrestling event that will take place on June 26th of this month called Black Girl Magik in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. Black Girl Magik is a new indie wrestling promotion that’s owned by a black woman named Aloha Taye and it’s goal is to give bigger opportunities and a bigger spotlight on mainly black female wrestlers that have felt are very underappreciated and disrespected by some white male indie promoters across the country. There are several matches that have already been announced for this historic event that will showcase the best black female wrestling talent of today plus a legend: Jordan Blade vs Janai Kai, Brooke Valentine vs Willow Nightingale, Lucious Latasha vs Karen Bam Bam vs Joseline Navarro, & the main event where The Legendary Jazz faces another Trish, but her name is the current Pan-African World Diaspora World Champion Trish Adora.

The Conclusion - Women wrestling is slowly getting the respect and opportunities that they rightfully deserve because women’s wrestling has evolved from the raunchy Jerry Springer Show type shit in the 2000s from The WWE to being on a equal footing as men’s wrestling today.
