Anime Shorts Worth Watching

It’s been a while since I posted here on Blerds and I think it’s about time I get back into it. With that being said happy New Year people, hope the holidays have been kind to you guys and your loved ones. ANIME, it’s pretty good and while I think the overall quality of the industry is not as solid as it used to be, there’s tons of great content out there. Especially some short anime ONAs and/or OVAs. I’m talking anime that range from about 2 to around 20 minutes and/or, are just a few episodes long. Nothing too time consuming but still very enjoyable. So without further ado, here you guys go:

Gravity Daze Overture – This is actually a bit of a cheat only because it actually bridges the gap between two video games. Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2. That all being said, I think you can enjoy it for what it is because I actually originally watched it with people who didn’t play the first game. And they liked it, two of them ended up playing the first game. Try it out.

Super Seisyun Brothers – There’s only fourteen episodes and each episode is four minutes long. Not even a little bit time consuming. It’s a comedic, josei, slice of life short about two pairs of siblings, two younger brothers and two elder sisters. Their everyday life at home and school.

Red Ash Gearworld – This short 23min one episode anime is classified as a movie but really it’s just a short film I suppose. It takes place in the future where a Nanorace exits, people with powers because of nano-machines. Regular people are called Purerace. The main characters get caught up with in some trouble when a girl in danger hides in their home. I personally don’t think this short is that great but it has some extremely unique visuals unlike any anime I’ve ever seen thus worth a watch.

La Maison en Petits Cubes – A 12 minute short film. In a place where the water levels rise constantly, an old man constantly builds new floor in his housing structure to avoid the water. He drops his favorite pipe into the water that sinks to the bottom of the house and he goes to retrieve then remembering the times he had on each floor and remembering his life. It’s truly poetic watching him swim through the various floor and remembering his past.

Oshiete! Galko-chan- These 12 episodes are only 8 minutes only. It’s about three completely different high school girls who you’d think wouldn’t get along or have anything to do with one another. Otako who’s small, not well built, sarcastic and a manga lover. Ojou, a rich girl who has excellent class yet is pretty ditsy. Galko has colored hair, gigantic breasts and her appearance is that of a party animal. But she’s actually really sweet, kind and innocent. It’s a lighthearted series about their conversations and they cover a whole spectrum on topics. Even kinky, lewd ones. Very fun.

Wakako-zake – I couldn’t put this any simpler. These series of two mins short (12 episodes) are about a 26 year Japanese woman eating food and drinking at various places. That’s all. She goes somewhere, she eats, has a drink or two then the episode ends. Not only is it frigging amazing it’s a personal favorite of mine.
