Marvel wins again GotG 2

Marvel has again succeeded in laying the foundation for further exploration of its outer-space universe. "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" gave us glimpses and teases of more to come with the discovery of the Celestials, and how they exist in this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Similarly, “Doctor Strange's" supreme beings tease in a universe controlled by the Infinity Stones. These two story lines coexist with a connection into the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War”. Differing from "Guardians of the Galaxy", the Infinity Stone was not the center of GotG2, allowing James Gunn, director,  to build a universe for its formerly unknown group of heroes.

Marvel has gotten better having adapted their movies with source material. Maintaining their own script once forced fans to question if Marvel cared about making films of quality. Winter Soldier began world building with storyline iterations while remaining true to comic book fans’ desires with Easter eggs and scenes translated directly from the comics.

With layers being added, Marvel began to understand which parts in the comics translated well on film, “Ant Man” being an example of such. The Guardians sequel improvised this same technique using Ego as Peter Quill's father to introduce the celestial beings, a decision I understood given how it fit in with the MCU.

Thus begins the divide in the fans of comics from the start of the MCU, that watch the films to see it translated well across the mediums without interruptions and fans of the films only. As a fan of both, I understand frustrations from both ends, mostly from the comic fans, but what we have to understand is the MCU has its own universe and storyline building from the start of "Ironman" up to "Guardians 2", each movie built in layers to connect and have been interlocking at the climax of the Infinity Wars.

All in all, "Guardians 2" further laid their foundation in the ever-building space battle that awaits us all while still bringing the joy and fun side found in the Guardian films. Not only was the film enjoyable, it is the second best sequel in the MCU, backed by an pleasing storyline and the perfect amount of action.

And no, it's not perfect, but this shows Marvel is improving and have all their eggs in the basket as they prepare for the big finale.
