The first month of 2016 and we are greeted with new and old music. This list is compiled of songs that I didn't get to listen to in detail while in 2015 and songs that are fresh from 2016. Nonetheless all of these songs are great and deserve endless listens.
RAW - Keebomb x Joe Rhee x Basterd
This song is about being raw as hell. You know, having an endless amount of swag, clout, power. This song is fueled with the upbeat track which I'm guessing was produced by 24 and the 4 rapper's sick flow. Joe Rhee mostly sings on the track while Keebomb and Basterd spit sick words about being the shit. I'm loving this song. I didn't get the chance to listen to it much upon its release with all the albums that came out when it did but now I can bump it endlessly. This is going on my summer and spring playlist.
Jinade - Only For You
I'm enjoying this song a lot. I decided to take a chance on Jinade and I wasn't disappointed. His rapping is pretty decent. I haven't found the lyrics but from what I can gather is that he only wants this girl and everything he does is for her. The singer, who I don't know, has a soft voice that fits the production of the song. Its light and doesn't have bass at all and is more of an R&N number. I give this song a thumbs up.
JND - Whatever You Like
This song completely captures the summer feel even though it isn't summer. JND raps and sings his way into our hearts with this hit as he talks about getting the girl he likes whatever she wants. He doesn't have much money but he can make it worth her while. This isan R&B song but it has influence from pop as well. The beat is really interesting and it doesn't get boring at all. I've been blasting this song since it came out this month. This will make its way into my Summer and Spring Playlist
Young Lion - New Life
I recently got into Young Lion with the release of his new EP Life Changes. It consists of 4 songs and is about how much his life has changed over the past few months. My favorite song which I can not put down is New Life featuring Donutman. Its a turn up song but with good lyrics. The rappers tell about how life changes and the new life that they have isn't going anywhere so lets turn up tonight and not stop for a while. It doesn't have heavy bass but it is a smooth banger.
Kiggen - I'm Serious
Kiggen like other rappers so far are trying to set the hip hop scene on fire so early in the year. This song which features Vixx's Ravi, Eruphant, and Esbee is a good indication that this year is going to be good. The song is apparently aimed at younger people who have no responsibility. Its like "You think life is hard but you haven't seen shit yet". I enjoy each rappers' verse and Kiggen producing this chill beat is what really put it on this list. This beat i melodic and I need a solo album from Kiggen like now.
Miliya Kato - The Lonely Girl Remix
The Lonely Girl is a Miliyah Kato classic as it was on her first album back in the day. In December she released a Maxi Singles titled Lipstick that consist of the two songs mentioned before hand and Never Call Me Again. In my attempt to get back into the Japanese music scene I gave her a chance. I enjoyed all of the songs but Lonely girl stuck with me the most. The remix keeps its R&B flavor but adds a touch of auto tune and pop. I actually enjoy this more than the original which is good. Sometimes remixes win, and this is that time.
AYNA - Cherry Coke
I honestly don't like coke at all but Cherry Coke is delicious. AYNA's Cherry Coke is delicious for my ears. She sings how good this guy is to her so much that she refers to him as being as sweet as cherry coke. Its not the first time I've heard people refer to someone they lie as food. In a poem I said Namie Amuro is peanut butter. Peanut Butter is the goat, better than chocolate. Cherry Coke is easy on the ears and you will enjoy listening to it. Its easily a good song to add to any playlist dealing with chill music. I'm looking forward to listening to more AYNA soon.
Stellar - Sting
When Vibrato came out I decided to watch it for fun because I knew they were known for sexy concepts. It was my first song but the new mini album is my first album. I love the whole album and Sting is my favorite. The song is about a failing relationship and they can tell that the guy is just there to be there. The lyrics are good but the selling point lies within the melody and their voices. They have such soft voices and it captures the essence of the melody giving us such a sweet, passive aggressive song. I have fallen in love with Stellar through this song and I need a full length from them now.
Dean - what2do
So this man decided to grace us with not only a new song but one with Jeff Bernat and Crush. This song is pure greatness. The guy's voices all mix together to give us an outstanding R&B tune about not knowing what to do in a relationship. The composition alone is splendid. I could listen to it over and over by itself. This song is just really catchy.
IMFACT - Shine
Lollipop is cool but this is the best song on the single or mini album. It reminds me of a BTS song for some odd reason. But the vocals on this track are good. They are so smooth and relaxing. The beat is nice as well. Its an R&B number with some pop and trap influences. I can see myself putting this song in lots of playlist.
So this is my list for this month. This has honestly been the most diverse list I have made. Joe Rhee is the only older artist I know and the rest are new additions to my music venture. I enjoyed all of these songs as well as the albums and singles they were released on. Below is a list of songs that were good but didn't make the cut.
Honorble Mentions
Shin Yubi - 괜찮아
Freelow - Refresh Remix
Hi.D - Dollar
Yezi - Cider
Zico - I Am You, You Are Me
Basick - In Front Of That House
Roccoberry - End Season
