I Hate Rappers 5 - Ungrateful Bastards

We get asked all the time "do you do interviews with rappers?" The answer to that question is "I don't," you can ask somebody else on the site. But I don't interview rappers. I stopped doing frequent album and mixtape reviews because I don't even fuck with rappers. Y'all disrespectful. Y'all ungrateful. Since we're being blunt, I'm not sleeping on your mixtape, I just don't owe you shit.

See, there's this thing where rappers act like we owe them something, and we don't. Let's be clear again. We've got clear submission policies. You can't give me 100 words about your mixtape or album? This is already longer than 100 words. But, I'm not even that strict when we get emails. As long as it's respectful you can drop me a DM. Just, let me tell you what you shouldn't do.

Every week we get at least one email with the subject "Music Submission," and the body features something along the lines of "y'all gonna review this," "This is my new mixtape, y'all doing a review," hell nah, we not doing a review of your shit. In fact the it's going straight to the trash. You don't have to follow the rules to a T. Just don't act like we owe you a review.

I don't like downloading attachments from people I can't trust. I download your mixtape because I hear you say "track 5 is fire" and as my hard drive melts due to some super virus, I learn you are correct. Track 5 was fire and I should have created backups of all the important files. The image shown isn't even the most disrespectful email we've received. Luckily, Gmail just deletes things after they've been in the trash for a while. While we're on email, let me tell you something else.

Don't sign us up to your "label's" newsletter. I don't care about your "label" mate's release date. Are you even a LLC? Partnership? Corporation? S Corporation? Are you a real label? I don't want links to everyone of your youtube videos. Most of which are you just smoking weed spouting off pseudo philosophy. We're not TMZ. We're not Perez Hilton. I don't give a fuck what open mic you gonna be at on the 14th. Actually I do, because I might just show up to whoop your ass.

The disrespect that rappers approach us with isn't even the biggest problem. It's because you're ungrateful. Let me state this again. We don't owe you shit. The reason people do reviews is because the artist gets publicity and people come to the site or youtube channel or newspaper and check out other things there. It's a form of cross promotion. However, it's not cross promotion when I write 5000 words about your mixtape and you can't even throw us a retweet? Throw it up your facebook page? That's us giving you oral sex and you throwing $3.22 on the dresser for cab fare.

Sure, we can do an interview. You'll be promoted to the 2000 or so visitors we bring in each day. But, what do we gain from that? We don't gain a damn thing. Then the words of Cassidy echo in my head for a month "you did something for nothing you doofus." Maybe one of the other writers will do a review with a rapper, but when it comes to interviews, I don't fuck with rappers. If you're a scientist, I want to interview you. Actor, I want to interview you. Pro Wrestlers, I want to interview you. Podcaster, I want to interview you. Director, I want to interview you. YouTuber, I want to interview you. Author, I want to interview you. Comic Book Artist, I want to Interview you. Rappers, fuck you. Don't email us and don't DM us in a group message with 20 other sites asking who wants an interview.

Nobody is sleeping on your mixtape when they won't review it. They've just seen how you treat other sites when they review your mixtape. You don't promote it, or you go on a Twitter rant. Shockingly, acting like an asshole drives people away. Not just for me or Blerds Online, but other sites as well. A lot of rappers seem to carry the mentality that if they act like they're big as Kanye West that one day they will be big as Kanye West.

There's rappers who have supported Blerds Online whether they had an album out or not. I'm always gonna support those rappers. Interviews, reviews or whatever because they're not assholes. You don't have to agree with everything said in a review. I feel more disrespected when I do a review and then the artist doesn't mention it even once, than when an artist calls me a bitch on the first track of the followup.

I get it, we're not XXL, Complex, HipHopDX or even The Coli. However, you can't go around claiming you're slept on when you ignore the people who are willing to take time out and help. You're not slept on. You're just sleeping on anyone and everyone that helped you in the past. Now you've got nothing.
