Wonder Girls - Reboot Album Review

After 3 Years the Wonder Girls are back. Sunye and Sohee left leaving 3 members but Sunmi rejoined after 5 years to give us a four member band. The Girls are back but with a band concept. Now let me explain this for those that haven't watched their MelOn showcase yet. The girls can play the instruments but they didn't record the instrumentals on the album because the concept of actually playing the instruments were thought of after half the album was complete. The instrumental were performed by actual professionals. The girls did write the songs except for I Feel You which was written by J.Y. Park.

The Wonder Girls are known for their retro style pop but this time they came back with retro style pop and rock. The entire album has an 80's feel to it. Now this may sound strange but its true. The Wonder Girls brought back 80's pop and rock and made it their own style. At first I was skeptical of the album, especially after listening to the album preview but that soon changed. The album is really good. As I said each song has an 80's feel but it almost seems modern day when you combine that with the essence that is the Wonder Girls.

The instruments are amazing. This is truly a light and chill album with not a lot of bass and other instruments that would give off a heavy feel. The use of drum, keyboard, bass, and guitar are used not to have you rock out but to make you feel good. The lyrics are great. Yenny really wrote lyrics that can represent the WGs. The other members wrote their own lyrics as well. My favorite moments on the album come from Lim and Yubins's lyrics. They are the rappers of the group and it shows. In a majority of idol groups the rapper gets mild lyrics and verses but Yubin and Lim brought it all here. "Back" is top 5 favorite songs on the album because its just Lim and Yubin rapping about being back in the music and just being great. Yubin continues to write good lyrics and Lim has gotten better at rapping and her charisma is amazing.

Of course Yenny's angel voice is back and slaying my heart and Sunmi sultry singing is killing my eardrums. Sunmi rejoining the group is great in aspect but she really proved to be a great addition in regaining the Wonder Girls status and performing in perfect sync. On this album neither the rappers or singers out shine another. Everything is in perfect sync. What I love most about this album is the way it makes me feel. Back, Oppa, and One Black Night demands me want to dance while the other songs prompt me to sing until my lungs break.

I love all the songs no doubt. Picking my favorite is hard because Rewind and Don't Play Baby are just fighting for that spot. Those two songs are just heavenly. Paloalto's rap on Candle was great. He fit the profile perfectly and I enjoy his lyrics a lot. The only thing I don't like on the album is Lim's signing on I Feel You. It sounds so weird and not appealing to the ears. Other than that this album is perfect. This is their best Album yet. It is more mature than what lots of K-Pop idols make. Get on the Wonder Girls' level. My rating of course is a 10/10. You may say this is unfair because I am a huge Wonderful but I don't care. The album was a 10 before it was released. There was no stopping this rating. WG proved to be the best in the business. GG and Sones ain't got nothing on us.
