TaeYang: RISE Album Review

What can I really say about this album? It was long awaited and it surprised many of us as well. I was not expecting TaeYang to have so many soulful ballads that make you FEEL! Namie Amuro joke.

This was actually a great album. TaeYang moves away from the pop scene, besides Body, and goes for a more R&B flavor which we all love. Body is not R&B but it is still a good song. It kind a reminds me of a Chris Brown club song and those songs are never really bad. A rap song with GD is also on the album and I get pumped every time I listen to it. The only problem I have with Stay With Me is that it isn't TaeYang featuring G Dragon but G Dragon featuring TaeYang. TaeYang mostly sang the chorus while GD got two verses. The hell is that GD? The song is still good but I would have loved for TaeYang to get at least a rap verse in.

Ringa Linga is on the album but we don't really have to talk about that because its Ringa Linga. Now we move to the ballads in 1AM, This ain't it, Let Go, and Eyes, Nose, Lips. These songs give you mixed emotions. 1AM is sad yet it makes you want to keep moving on with your life. You feel sad but the instrumental lets you know that you'll be alright. Its kinda like 2NE1's HAPPY. The same goes for Let Go. He's getting over the selfishness, greed, and tough boy act as he is not only moving on in his life but to a new love interest. All of these ballads are great and they help you grow with the artist as well.

Now we move on the last song on the list. My favorite song on the album as well, Love You To Death. This song is just godly. The lyrics, chorus, CL's part, the instruments and the emotion are just procreating in my ears every time I listen to it. This is a true R&B track for the R&B lovers. I promise you that this song does not disappoint. This was a great ending to the album.

Now that I've gone through everything I have to rate it. In my opinion this album gets a 8.3. The reason its not higher is because it is only 9 songs. Technically its 8 songs and an intro. I would have loved it if there were at least three or four more songs. TaeYang could have performed that many. It was filled with too many ballads, even though they were great songs, there needed to be more up hip songs like Stay With Me and Ringa Linga. The album mostly focused on love, and once again even though I loved it, there could have been more dance and up beat songs. With this said I can't wait for his next project which, knowing YG Entertainment, won't be for another 4 years, I will still wait and review it then as well. Go buy the album on ITunes for whatever much it is. I don't use Itunes. I buy the albums from Amazon and various other music websites.
