Looking for a new game to play? Into horror, with a helping of blood and gore? Fighting while trying to survive an outer space onslaught? Then Dead Space might be just the series for you! Dead Space is what has it all in terms of survival and horror. You got horror, blood, weapons, and a feeling that sends a chill down your spine that keeps you on the edge of your seat!
What is Dead Space you say? Synopsis, Dead Space is about an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who is fighting a legion of parasitic aliens called Necromorphs. This game is in 3rd person, meaning the camera is behind your character. What makes this game unique is how everything in the game such as inventory access, store purchases, and healing is all in real time, meaning, if you’re not careful, prepare for the worst, as enemies can still attack you, so be prepared to clear out everything before doing any of the above. Since Isaac is an engineer and not a soldier, you don’t have badass guns or anything. Not that it’s a bad thing, instead, you have access to engineering tools that varies from; plasma cutters, saw blades, spear guns, and even a security pulse rifle. Basically more effective tools to fight the Necromorphs.
Now the Necromorphs are a parasitic life form that infect its victims basically making it a Necromorph, think of them as zombies. Now in most games, shooting a zombie in the head puts them down for good, not these enemies. In order to take these suckers down, you have to be strategic. By strategic, you need to dismember them. That’s right, cut their limbs off, this way they cant attack and eventually die from critical injury. Weapons such as the Plasma Cutter (which is the well known weapon in the game) can cut limbs from arms to legs. Most enemies possess a yellow spot on themselves, which is an obvious sign that its their weak point, so shoot them there.
Survival is important, meaning you can’t take a sigh of relief as they will always pursue you. Ammo and health is important to conserve as not always will the enemy drop anything that can be helpful. Money that you can get in the game will be very helpful since you can use credits to buy ammo, health and even upgrading your suit to withstand more damage.
So basically, if you’re a fan of horror and shooters, than the Dead Space series is something you should try out. All three games are available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC, and at a decent price for the three games.
