Black Supervillain: Alex Wilder

"Are you guys high? Our parents are supervillains."

Alex Wilder

Geoffry and Catherine Wilder are supervillains who controlled the majority of Los Angeles. They were part of a group called Pride that was promised they could rule the Earth when a group of aliens called the Gibborim finally took over. Noticing they were nowhere near making that a reality, members of Pride wished to pass that promise on, so they began families. That is when Alex Wilder and other children were born.

For most of his life Alex believed that his parents operated a charity foundation. He also grew up loving nothing more than superheroes, video games and computers. One of his favorite memories was dressing as Spider-Man for Halloween. That obviously didn't sit well with his parents, additionally they wished for Alex to become a doctor while he wanted to design video games.

Alex spent majority of his time developing games himself or playing multiplayer games online. That's where he met the other members of The Runaways. Despite only demonstrating it in online games it was clear that Alex was a natural leader and strategist. Alex overhears two couples from The Pride, the Hayes' and The Deans' discussing how they plan to kill the other members of The Pride. It is at this point Alex decided that he wanted to protect his parents and began following to help in any situations they may encounter.

One day Alex stumbles upon his parents performing The Rite of Blood to appease the Gibborim. During this they murdered a teenage girl. Alex brings together other teenagers from the families involved hoping to escape their parents and the Gibborim. At first they didn't believe him so he leads them down a passage so that they could view the Rite of Blood being performed. The children steal various objects from their parents including X-Ray glasses, The Staff of One, a dinosaur and a book called The Abstract. Alex leaves a note for his parents swearing his allegiance to them.

The teens create a base in an abandoned mansion that they call The Hostel and begin calling themselves The Runaways. They also select code names but Alex refuses stating he wants to bring pride back to his family name. They begin fighting crime as vigilantes and training for their eventual showdown with their parents. It is also at this time that Alex starts an on and off relationship with his team member Nico Minoru. When Cloak and Dagger found out about the group after a battle they both participated in, they promised to send The Avengers to help them our of their current situation, you know, broke and in an abandoned mansion. However Alex called Pride and had them wipe the minds of Cloak and Dagger. It's at this point Alex begins looking for answers to what's going on in the book. The Abstract contains the answers to how the Gibborim found and selected six couples for their plans as well as why and other things. He manages to learn of the group their parents belong to is called Pride. Additionally they learn of plans for the future. They required the sacrifice of 25 pure souls over 25 years so that they could rule The Earth.

The group trains for a year in anticipation for the showdown with their parents at the next Rite of Blood. During the fight other members of the team are taken out by their parents. Not murdered, but just enough to know "I brought you in this world and I can take you out," is a reality that can happen. Alex takes control of The Staff of One, X-Ray glasses and a dinosaur during the fight. When it was over only Alex and his team member Karolina remain standing along with Alex and Nico's parents. It's at that point that Alex just knocks her out. Receiving a congratulations from The Pride.

It is at this point he frees Nico who had been paralyzed with magic. He explains the plan to his family, Nico's family and offers her the opportunity to join them as one big evil family. Their parents completely approve of this. "Hey, this kid is pretty evil. I'd totally want him dating my daughter," but I suppose that's how it works in evil families. Nico refuses the offer, breaks up with Alex and then attacks him. The Gibborim break up the fight. The Gibborim applaud Alex, not only for his genius strategy, but the defeat of The Pride, forming his own group and his honesty with them. However, they were pissed they didn't have a sacrifice so they incinerated him instantly. This allows the other Runaways to escape. Pride was wiped out as well for their failure.

After his death Nico attempted to resurrect him but failed because The Staff of One was not strong enough. On another occasion his friends from an MMORPG attempted to resurrect him with a spell they found on the internet. It killed one of them and didn't bring back Alex. Instead it brought a teenage version of Alex's father Geoffry into the present, complete with coke white suit and jheri curl who then revives Pride.

Death really couldn't hold Alex back for long. A while after his death he began communicating with members of his team, specifically Molly, as a disembodied voice. He often provided solutions to challenges they faced and used his ability from the white void to provide them with answers that were unclear. In reality he did this because he had been in Hell for what seemed like an eternity. It turns out that Hell is nothing like Dragon Ball Z and he did not want to be there anymore. He was attempting to earn his way out of Hell by making up for past deeds by doing acts that would positively effect the world. When the Gibborim are killed and wind up in the same white space as Alex he's just as surprised as they are. They demand answers as if he was the one who had sent them there. He simply tells them that Hell is for children and continues making amends. However no matter how many good deeds he did he never seemed to make any progress escaping the white space and couldn't remain there long. Eventually he was trapped permanently within hell. Or so everyone thought because for some reason, he's just too cool to be stuck in Hell with children.

However his genius was recognized by Daimon Hellstorm, Son of Satan. As well as his relationship with Nico, who was quickly gaining more dark powers. He signed a contract, bringing him back to life if he would work for Hellstorm and bring her to join the Masters of Evil. He however helped her cope with her powers and reunited her with the team. He wanted to stay but he signed a contract and didn't fulfill his part so he had to go. You'd think he had redeemed himself and you'd be wrong because he wasn't killed again. He just joined The Young Masters. They're the youth outreach program of Masters of Evil. Alex just knows he's destined to be on the side of evil. Then Secret Wars happened. The End?

    1. He'd fit in around here. I mean, we'd have to watch out that he didn't leave us for dead in front of some aliens. But he'd fit in fine.

  2. He's coming back into the Marvel Universe in the most bad-ass way.
