JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood Review Part 1

So I have been hearing a lot about the Jo Jo series as of late. I had to give this series a go. For those of you that don’t know, Jo Jo’s Bizarre Adventure was made by Hirohiko Araki in 1986 and this series is still on going. The series is currently made up of 8 parts; I’m only going to cover the first part Phantom Blood.

So at the beginning of Phantom Blood a guy by the name of Dario Brando and his wife found a driving carriage that was destroyed and by this driving carriage was a dead driver, dead horses, a dead woman with a crying baby (both were in the driving carriage) and a man that was unconscious at the time. Dario was going to loot this unconscious man (Dario thought the man was dead) due to him being clothed in nice clothes and had a ring on him. There also was a briefcase (within that briefcase was a stone mask) lying near the unconscious man but I’ll get into that later.

As Dario was about to loot the unconscious man, he suddenly woke up and thanked Dario because he thought Dario was there to save him. This man is named George Joestar and George feels as though he is indebted to Dario.

Several years later after Dario dies his son Dio Brando goes to the Joestar estate and becomes the adoptive son of George and the adoptive step brother of George’s son (the baby that was still alive in that destroyed carriage) Jonathan Joestar. Dario (before he died) would go on to tell Dio to become the heir of the Joestar family. The tales of events that would follow the story next created a very interesting arc and I’ll go deeper into this review tomorrow.
