Top 5 Legitimate Criticisms That Some Wrestling Fans In The IWC Have About AEW

Ever since AEW came onto the scene in early 2019, they’ve caught the wrestling world by storm through promotions, special events, etc. But there are some legitimate criticisms about AEW from some people in the internet wrestling community including myself.

Even though they have the passionate hardcore fan base as NXT does. While many wrestling fans in the IWC have many legitimate criticisms about WWE, but there are definitely some flaws about AEW that have been legitimately criticized by some people in the internet wrestling community aka IWC including myself.

Here are top 5 legitimate criticisms that some wrestling fans in the IWC have about AEW.

“It’s WCW Like In Certain Ways” - One of the main legitimate criticisms that some wrestling fans have about AEW is that it resembles WCW in certain ways like shooting certain camera shots, certain match endings, perceived nepotism amongst Cody, Kenny, & The Bucks having top executive positions within the new promotion which is a cause for legitimate concerns amongst some wrestling fans in the IWC.

“Their Women’s Division Is Weak” - Another legitimate criticism that some wrestling fans have about AEW that I definitely agree with is the fact that their women’s division is very weak compared to WWE & NXT. They have heavily invested into the men’s singles and tag team divisions, but have kinda pushed the women on their current roster to the side by either putting them in dark matches, not letting them get enough time to develop their character to get fans to become emotionally invested or connected to them. Hell in terms of title presentations, the women were also shafted from having their title presented by a female wrestling legend unlike the AEW World & Tag Team Titles. AEW really needs to step up their game by investing more into their women’s division and giving them more character development and better builds and not having random women’s matches like Rhio vs Emi Sakura that have absolutely no build to them.

“They’re Focusing Too Much On WWE” - One of the biggest legitimate criticisms from some wrestling fans including myself is that AEW has taken one too many shots at WWE throughout much of this year whether it be in interviews, on PPVs or their recent TV episodes. One of the biggest reasons why WCW and The Old TNA folded is due to the fact that they tried so hard to be like WWE and ended up failing miserably. From here on out, AEW needs to stop focusing on WWE and just focus on themselves, period.

“They Got Too Many Smaller Guys” - Another main legitimate criticism that some wrestling fans have about AEW is the fact that if you look at their roster on their website, you’ll see that their roster doesn’t have much size variety because many of the guys that they do have are vanilla midgets aka smaller guys that can do all these cool high risk moves for instant self-gratification. They don’t have enough medium to big size heavyweights to balance out the roster. I personally feel that they should definitely focus on signing more heavyweights to their roster to make it more balanced between them and the vanilla midgets that they currently have on their roster.

“Their Music Quality Isn’t The Best” - Another legitimate criticism that some wrestling fans like myself have about AEW is that their music quality is nowhere near as good as WWE and NXT. If you listen to many wrestlers themes in AEW aside from Cody & Jericho, they sound like some of the current wrestler themes from Impact Wrestling. I’ve said this before and I will say it again, they need to hire someone that can provide better wrestler themes that will definitely play an integral part in wrestlers getting over with the crowd, not these cookie cutter generic themes that many of them in AEW have now.

The Conclusion - Just because you like a particular wrestling promotion whether it be the indies, NJPW, ROH, WWE, NXT, or AEW doesn’t mean that you don’t legitimately critique them because you have to point out things that you don’t like about a particular wrestling promotion so that they can become better than what they were previously.
