Midnight is a song that depicts the circle of life for those (African Americans) trapped in impoverished/disenfranchised areas in the US. The song opens with a story about a man who sees a person resurrect from the dead and has a conversation with him about the life of those who live in the struggle before killing him. The 2nd verse expands on the mentality of the man resurrected from the dead provided by Austin rapper Dre Prince. The hook and bridge were provided by Austin songwriter/vocalist Jake Lloyd who also provides assisting background vocals on the 2nd half of the song. The second half of Midnight ventures into the afterlife of the person killed in the 1st verse where he meets God, a black woman...will he too be resurrected and kill his own people?
