Top 5 Movies of 2015

These top 5 lists never go well. Someone is always mad and I'm telling you now, someone is going to be mad again. The thing is, they're based on opinion. Additionally you can't put a movie you didn't see on the list. Even if I heard Mad Max is really good, I didn't see it. So it doesn't exist for the purpose of this list. Also, I'm not putting Age of Ultron on the list and that's going to make some people mad. Doesn't matter, here's my top 5 Movies of 2015

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens: A lot of people were really mad about this one, they still saw it. A lot of people have seen it three or four times are still trying to discredit it for being a good film. I don't know how much more I can read about Rey being feminist propaganda or Finn being an affirmative action character. Doesn't matter, the movie was great and you saw it multiple times just to hate.

Creed: Let me tell you, I'm so glad that Rocky is dead. Wait...Rocky isn't dead. It's just the series of films that's dead. I don't know how many more times I could watch Rocky suit up and overcome the odds like John Cena. Creed does a great job of switching perspective to someone who isn't Rocky and the fact that there's a built in story with Apollo Creed makes the transition all that smoother. Also Michale B. Jordan had to do something to make up for that terrible commercial. Yeah, we know about Kevin. Also, I heard he got knocked out during filming. That's dedication.

Straight Outta Compton: Look, this was a good movie but it had it's problems. Dr. Dre created the West Coast on the 6th day and on the 7th he rested. The movie portrayed Dr. Dre as this super gangster with great morals. Leaving out the fact that he made disco music and beat women, but was never a gang banger. It's funny because they had no problem airing everyone else's dirty laundry such as Ice Cube's antisemitic comments. It also acted like DJ Yella and MC Ren had no part of the group as well as completely ignoring Arabian Prince. I say all that to let you know it's a great movie. It just isn't a true story when it comes to Dr. Dre, DJ Yella and MC Ren. Ice Cube's parts are pretty accurate and stick to the stories he's told before, most notably on the first Beef documentary.

Dope: It's dope, enough said. I wrote about here, but it's dope and that's all you really need to know. In case you needed to know more it's a black coming of age story. It's not just a random black kid dropped in the middle of a classic white coming age story. It's a black story that deals with black issues.

The Hateful Eight: Quentin Tarantino makes some damn good movies. Sometimes I do wonder about his obsession with using the word "nigga" as many times as possible in each film. Anyway, it's a great film that is just as good as Django or Pulp Fiction. Have you ever noticed how many of these films have Sam Jackson? Just thought about that. Anyway, I should have put it on the list just because the police wanted to boycott it.

You can hear Darrell on the CP Time and Powerbomb Jutsu podcasts. He also plays classic arcade games on The Cabinet
Darrell S.

Hey, I write stuff, a lot of different stuff, that's all.

    1. It's pretty good and had more laughs than I expected. It's a QT movie through and through. If you enjoyed Django you'll most likely enjoy it too.
