Taeyeon - I Mini Album Review

Taeyeon of Girls Generation has released her first mini album. She is also the first member of Girls Generation to release a solo album. “I” is a mini album that consists of 5 songs and an instrumental.

The title song “I” is beautiful. With the help of Verbal Jint, Taeyeon sings of how amazing her life is and how she’ll always keep flying. I love this song. It’s my favorite from the album. The title song is never really my favorite but this time it is. Taeyeon did a great job writing the lyrics for this song. Its pretty uplifting. Definitely one of the best songs this year.

The song Gemini is on the R&B side. It's so sweet of  a number. Taeyeon sings about the best stages of love. The laughter, crying reminiscing, and the sweet touches of the lips. Being together forever even when so distant. The melody is relaxing. I can see myself drifting to sleep as Taeyeon’s voice softly puts me to sleep. Stress is a song different from the others. It is uptempo but it's not that happy. The song is about being stressed out due to being in love with someone but it suffocating. I love the line “You got me smoking cigarettes”, imagine Taeyeon smoking cigarettes.

I love the lyrics for UR. Being surrounded by a dark cloud and that one person who comes and shines light on you making you feel better. We all have that one person. Farewell is just lovely. Saying goodbye is never easy but it is something that has to be done. I love the arrangement of the song. The way she sings it is just amazing.

This is a pretty solid first album. The songs move you in either a happy or sad motion. Each song serves its purpose. Taeyeon did a great job on the lyrics and her voice was stellar. Her producers did a great job with capturing her sound and individuality. I give this album a 4/5. I can't wait for more Taeyeon in the Future.
