Cheetah - My Number/Catharsis Single Review

Star of UnPretty Rapstar and one of the hottest Female Rappers in Korea right now, The Goddess, Cheetah is back. The last time we heard Cheetah on a track was back in March with the sixth track to the Unpretty Rapstar Album "Like Nobody Knows". That is also my favorite song on the album.

Cheetah returns with the double single My Number, which comes with a music video, and Catharsis. Both songs are hip hop with the use of trumpets in the back to give it s funky groove. This is similar to EXID's Up&Down and Ah Yeah. This aspect really defines the songs. It delivers a unique sound. This is a bit different from previous Cheetah songs but she makes it work.
Its a little addictive.

My Number is about Cheetah's success and how her phone buzzes all day long from things such as Instagram and being wanting to work with her. It is also about how she gets called on by men to give them her number. I enjoy the song and the music video was really nice. Cheetah doesn't dance so it was cool to showcase actual dancers in the video.

Catharsis, the B side song to the single, is my favorite of the two. My Number was good but Cheetah was able to really dish out her signature flow but not as aggressive. If you know Cheetah than you know when she raps she has an aggressive approach. Like Nobody Knows, Catharsis, and My Number are examples of a more laid back Cheetah. Like Nobody Knows and Catharsis are able to have her signature flow but with less aggression which serves for a great track.

Catharsis is about proving who she is and how far she has gotten in the rap scene this year alone. Proving that she is worthy of the fame she has gotten. In my opinion, Cheetah, aside from Yoon Mirae, is the best female Korean rapper at the moment. These two songs are a great prelude to her career that will only blossom from here on out.
