Partying and Females: American HipHop vs Korean HipHop

So the other day I'm in my car going to pick up my mom but first I was taking my brothers to the gas station. I was listening to Profile by Beenzino (Korean Rapper) featuring label-mates Dok2 and The Quiett. His song was about Beenzino's rise to fame from joining Illionaire Records. Some of the lyrics were in English. My brother looks over to me and says " they rap about the same thing the rappers I listen to rap about." Moving along with the music I calmly said "shut up." That was the end of the conversation. He was right, but wrong at the same time.

Now I don't mind a casual song about getting money and partying all night, but I don't like it all the time. This is why I don't like a majority of the current American Rappers. A majority of them only rap about those things. Korean rappers do rap about those same subjects but not on every song. On the Album 24:26 by Beenzino "Profile" and "Nike Shoes" are the only songs about money and what not. Beenzino's verse on Profile is a more than money by the way.

I'm not one of those hypocrite foreign music listeners who only listens to foreign music and disses their native music, yet they both are the same. I realize that not all American rappers rap about those topics. I realize that not all Korean Rappers only rap about positive subjects. At the end of the day its all music so shut up.

  1. Nope, that's it. Just nope. It's very rare you'll find an American rapper that only does the "money cash hoes" lyrics. Yes, two are those are the same thing. Sure you get a Tyga or Chief Keef every now and then, but that's it. Even someone like Y.G. who has the most ignorant song ever "My Nigga," will have something deeper on their albums. You can't judge hip hop by the small amount of music that gets radio play from an even smaller amount of artist. There's millions of rappers in America that aren't what the radio chooses to support.
