Nubia
Legend has it that Wonder Woman was created from white clay. Legend also says that Nubia was created first from black clay. This means she got the same powers that Wonder Woman got, flight, super strength etc. In the inevitable "Can a sister get a break" moment Nubia was kidnapped by Ares. Ares kept Nubia locked in Hell and raised her to be his chosen warrior. He forced her to wear a ring that kept her from reaching her memories so that he could maintain control of her. She became a legendary warrior in hell and Ares felt she was complete.
Ares sent Nubia to Earth where she became Wonder Woman's best friend and roommate. All the while Wonder Woman was having battles with Nubia. Wonder Woman somehow couldn't put together the idea that her roommate and the black Amazonian that she had been fighting for months was the same person. I'm so glad the Amazons don't believe in racism. Superman would have just assumed she was every black woman on the planet.
Once the ring was off Nubia she defeated Ares followed by her soldiers. She chose to lead them on a mission of peace afterwards. Queen Hippolyte revealed to Wonder Woman that Nubia was actually her older sister. Then we didn't ever see Nubia again. But there are some other versions of her we can talk about.
On Earth 23 she's friends with President Superman. Her costume and powers are similar to Wonder Woman's but that's where it ends. On Earth 23 she is actually Queen of The Amazons. She originally fought against President Superman before opening diplomatic relations.
In the Pre-Crisis universe she had the same back story. However she also had a sword that was the only thing that could cancel Wonder Woman's lasso. Pos-Crisis her job was to guard the doorway to hell. She accompanied the Medusa and other Gorgons on a journey and they gifted her the ability of cold sight. Meaning she can turn people to stone who look at her. Nubia is an interesting character that gets stuck in limbo a lot.
