Guardians of The Galaxy isn't without it's flaws. We all know Rocket and Groot are CGI but there's some moments when other characters have obviously been CGId There's one scene when Gamora makes a huge leap and takes off like Thor. She can't fly. They could have made it look more jump like than flight like. I also understand Dave Bautista is a wrestler. I record Powerbomb Jutsu almost every week, I know wrestling. I understand when a wrestler is in a movie, you kind of have to get him to perform some wrestling moves. In the film The Man With Iron Fist Baustista pulled off a wrestling move. He did a move that he actually performs. A spinebuster, but you have to go big or go home in Guardians of The Galaxy. In the movie Drax pulled off a Tornado DDT. It was obviously CGI because no being can spin that fast without super speed and two, no man of Bautista's size has the ability to remain airborne as long as they had him in the movie.
The film also didn't do a good job of introducing the supporting characters or the films villains. I wouldn't be shocked if someone left the theater wondering who Thanos was and why he was the bad guy. There was no explanation of why the Nova Corps were more trustworthy than the Yondu and it they didn't bother mentioning that the Yondu kidnapped Peter until right before the final battle so his association was left up in the air for most of the movie. They actually do a good job of introducing the main characters via their criminal records. Except Drax. Drax just tells us his back story and then beats some people up while using an extensive vocabulary.
That's all the bad stuff. Let's talk about the good stuff. That soundtrack is golden. Sure it had intense battle themes but those were sparse. The soundtrack is filled with music from the 70s. The film makes it a goal to point out Starkiller/Peter's Sony Walkman early on. Just to demonstrate the importance to him. The 70s soundtrack is completely out of place for the film and it provides some purely comedic moments. At once point Peter bails on the prison escape to retrieve his walkman and fights through several guards. All while Pina Colada plays loudly. I have never seen anyone get an ass beating to the Pina Colada song but I can now say I've seen at least 4. At one point Peter sings O-O-H Child to distract Thanos. At this point a good portion of people in the audience sang along because the running joke of 70s music had grown on us.
Speaking of jokes, this movie is just full of them. People see a talking raccoon and probably expect a ton of jokes. I figured "I know who Rocket is, this will be a serious movie throughout." Nope, I was wrong. This is by far the funniest movie Marvel has put out. At one point Peter fights through a ton of people to retrieve a man's robotic leg for Rocket. Only for Rocket to laugh and say he was joking, causing everyone to react in various ways from head shakes, to disgust and yes, facepalms. Later he repeats the joke by asking for another man's eye.

While the character hate each other at the beginning it becomes clear that they're the only friends any of them have. Rocket and Drax tried to kill each other earlier but when Rocket is feeling sad, Drax just rubs his head and Rocket leans in like a pet. As Drax put it "Peter Quil is my friend, Groot is my friend, this green whore is my friend." This isn't the Avengers it's not about a group of top notch heroes becoming friends while saving the world. It's a group of people who all want to kill or capture the other, coming together to save h galaxy and realizing they're friends because nobody else likes them. Are you looking for a score? You don't get one. It's a good movie. Go see it A Hole.
