Who has a Better/Worse back story, Brook or Robin?

So there is this one debate that is underrated in all one piece debates. That debate is who has the best or worst back story. It all comes down to Robin and Brook. Everyone else had a bad back story but these two had it bad. We all cried about 90 times each when watching their past. So who has the best or worst story? Lets go over the past.

Brook
Brook was a musician on a boat full of pirates and was one himself. He and his crew traveled the seas having fun and doing what pirates do. They soon came across a whale named laboon who is fun and a badass. One Piece has some badass animals by the way. YOKOZUNA!!!! They became quick friends but laboon because he was a whale and the fact that the crew didn't want him to be killed, he stayed behind. Along the way Brook also ate the devil fruit that allows the user immortality. Brook's crew was attacked by pirates (ironic huh) and half hos crew mates died. As a departing wish Brook and the last remaining members sang a song that represented their friendship. Everyone died but Brook. From then on he spent 50 years on the boat with all of his dead friends with no way to get off. Brook couldn't swim because he is a devil fruit user and he would drown. But he wouldn't die so he would be at the bottom of the sea forever.

Robin
Robin grew up on the island of Ohara. Her mother left her at the age of two to find the True History. Robin lived with her uncle and bitch aunt Roji. I'm glad you died Roji, you ugly piece of shit. Roji physically and mentally tortured my poor Robin. She deserved to be blown up. Her and the children that through rocks at her and called her a demon. Now that I think about, besides Robin's mother and the Archaeologist, I'm glad every one on Ohara died. Back to the story. Robin became the smartest Archaeologist on the island by the age of 8 and wanted to read the forbidden books but the elders weren't having that. Soon the Marines and Nico Olvia came to the island. The Marines came to blow things and people up while Olvia came back to see Robin and the Archaeologist. The part where Olvia and Robin ran past each other without knowing who was who was sad as hell. I cried when that happened. So long story short everyone Robin loved was killed all at once and she escaped. For the next 20 years she shifted from home to home trying not to be caught by the Marines. She suffered from starvation, being homeless, having no love, and being ratted out by people she worked for to the Marines. She also shifted from pirate Crew to Pirate Crew before meeting the Straw Hats.

I've gone over both of their past lives before meeting the Straw Hats now here comes the real part. I say that Robin has the worst/best back story because she obviously does. She spent 28 years oh her life running from the Marines, never trusting people because they would turn their backs on her, and fighting battles she should not have been in. Robin was forced to grow up without a family as she ran away from people trying to kill her. Tell me how a man whose friends died in front of him and he can never die and that he lived 50 years on a boat alone is more sadder than an 8 year old girl's family and home island being wiped out. Now I love Brook, he's in my top 5 One Piece character list. But I can not see how his back story is worst or better than Robin's. I cried like a bitch watching Brook's story but I have never cried in my life as much as I did when watching Robin's back story. No other anime character's back story has made me cry the entire Arc. Every time I see Brook I see a man whose heart has been repaired by his new friends but when I see Robin I see a woman whose faith in hope, friends, family and life has been restored. You can believe what you want but the right belief is that Robin in terms of back story has the best/worst of all One Piece characters. I cried a lot writing this so be happy.

  1. For a girl who just binged watched 600 One Piece episodes, this post resonates with me. I agree, Robin's story is the worst and because of this she is one of my favorite characters. The Water Seven arc was sooo good. The funny thing though is that I didn't cry watching her back story, but I did cry watching Luffy and Ussop's fight...that was killer!

  2. It's a very, very hard debate. Both are horrible, but I disagree, I think Brooks is worse. Robin went through some shit, all her life, but at least was doing something. Also her entire life has been shit so she doesn't have anything to compare it to. Brook on the other hand had everything he could ever dream for. Friends, fun, and happiness. Then he watched it all burn and die in front of his eyes and because of fate, couldn't join them. So then he spent 50 YEARS starving and dehydrated on a boat filled with the memories of his past, and constantly believing that there would be no escape. I believe that is worse.

  3. Some people doesn't even really paying that attention much about Brook story. You guys only knows about his past 50 years+ ago which is around at the age 30 to 38, but not his childhood. Brook once said that he is the fastest swordsman in his kingdom when he joined Luffy, but he never mentioned about his kingdom back in the west blue. Any information about it is entirely unknown. Remember, every little details is important. Here's a question, how does Brook had 33 million beli bounty for his head alone? Is it because of what he done something that the marine paying close attention to him? Or is it because of other stuff? Is it because of he knows something important that the Navy must after him just like Robin? Or somebody else looking for his head?

Second, his swords technique "Yahazugiri" was normally name in French, until he met his pirate crew, he change it to "Yahazugiri". But why does his technique was normally name in French? In which kingdom did Brook lived in before he joined the pirate that had literally related to French?

Third, which people that attacked Brook and his crew that poison the whole crew? It's still unknown and we already assume his backstory only stop at "He stuck at that ship for 5 decades".

Robin is tragic, 8 years old and already being hunt by the World Government. But she at least she can die, and she wanted to die anyway! Brook on the other hand left to rot, stuck in the ship for 50 years. Every single day he couldn't even slept well, probably the same with Robin. Every single day, Brook wishing to die so badly, but he had a promise that he must hold for him and his nakama. That's why he chose to live. There's also literally less entertaining stuff to do in that ship! No book to read, no blue sky to see and literally nothing. Only black clouds, the silent wind and the dead sea. How the hell does that loneliness feeling can't make this the saddest and tragic of all?

  5. Brook legit spent 50 years on that ship alone with his own thoughts. At least robin was always on the move, doing something to take her mind off of her troubles. Brook had to wake up every day on the same ship with lingering memories of what happened that day. Can you imagine how horrific that would be?

  6. I don’t care what you say brooks story is way more sad bro spent 50 years on that ship no food or water and he is just looking at his dead friends every day AT LEAST ROBIN GOT TO GO PLACES

  7. At least Brook has good memories about his nakama to remember and someone are waiting for him. You cant deny a fact that Brook has a much better life than Robin.
Robin had nothing, no friends, no family, the whole world had seen her as a monster for 20 years.
For 20 years of running, she didnt have a day to rest, had no one to trust. Didnt know if she could achieve her dream. Couldnt be sure if she really find a family she belongs.
Yes, I completely understand being lost for 50 years had no hope to escape is really painful. But at least he has a goal, has a faith, hope. Hope one day he could reunite with Laboon.
