WWE Never Copies TNA: Except All Those Times They Did

I often hear dedicated WWE fans proclaiming that "TNA is ALWAYS copying WWE, WWE never does that." You're right, WWE never copies TNA. Except for those times that they did. I've come up with a list of five things WWE copied from TNA but believe me, there's more.

1. Beautiful People / LayCool

That's not a picture of LayCool. That's a picture of the Beautiful People. They were the original stable of a blonde and brunette that made fun of other women on the roster and dominated the division. 6 months of them actually being popular and along comes LayCool. A blonde and a brunette with the exact same gimmick. Fast forward to May 2014 and the beautiful people have reunited in TNA. Fast forward to June 2014 Layla has teemed up with another blonde, this time Summer Rae. Maybe Michelle McCool wanted nothing to do with gimmick infringement this time around.

2. Gail Kim is Ryback

We know Gail Kim, she's one of the most talented women in wrestling. We also know Ryback, he's got a big back and a Curtis Axel. Remember that time Ryback was issuing open challenges for several weeks in November 2013. Remember that time Gail Kim was offering open challenges in October of 2013. Now I know you're probably having a WWE Mark fit and yelling at the screen "IT'S AN OPEN CHALLENGE GIMMICK IT'S SO SIMPLE." You're right. it's simple, it's basic. Nothing special about it. But you have to admit that the timing was just to perfect. A month later and the exact same storyline is now taking place in WWE? C'mon. I know you don't want to admit it but that's no coincidence. WWE copied TNA and even if you don't want to admit it, it happened. Don't worry if that's not believable there's even more things they copied.

3. Immortal was here before The Authority

Yes, The Authority is a cool gimmick. HHH and Stephanie leading a reign of terror through the WWE, backed by Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Batista (he'll be back), Kane and other occasional supporting characters. Telling guys like Daniel Bryan they aren't best for business. What if I told you HH, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff had their own reign of terror. Backed by Matt and Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray, Mr. Anderson, Kurt Angle and occasional other supporting characters. What if I told you AJ Styles is not what's best for business? What if I said TNA did it?

4. AJ Lee is no AJ Styles

Remember that time AJ Lee was general manager and there was video of her having an affair with top star John Cena? It happened after Dixie Carter was TNA's owner and was caught having an affair with top star AJ Styles. Now again, I'm not saying this is something TNA came up with. I'm just saying that timing is too damn close. WWE did it with Edge and Vickie but at least TNA gave the story angle several YEARS to breathe not WEEKS. People pass of these incidents of WWE copying TNA as it being an old story. Seriously let's look at the time frames. WWE doesn't even let the dust settle on a story before they copy it. People may think that WWE doesn't see TNA as competition but it's obvious that someone in WWE is watching TNA on the regular basis to pillage stories. Don't believe me? #5 is a killer on this one.

5. "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery"

On Monday Night Raw - 7/21/14 the team of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E. was formed and the only thing I could say to myself is "What the hell is this?" TNA's viewership rating has been going up over the last two months from .52 to 1.02. Do you know what's happened in that time? TNA formed a stable of 3 black men. MVP, Bobby Lashley and Kenny King. If you listen to Powerbomb Jutsu we've been hyping them as the next Nation of Domination for at least 4 months. WWE had the opportunity to form a new Nation of Domination when Rusev was literally destroying every black guy on the roster. Instead, they wait until TNA has found gold with the gimmick and steal it. It's not even copying at this point. They stole it like nobody would notice. Jokes on you, millions of people really do watch TNA. You don't have to take my word for it. Take current TNA Heavyweight Champion and former ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley's word for it.

I'll say this one more time. It's 2014, there's nothing in wrestling that hasn't been done before. You think Bray Wyatt is original? Look up Waylon Mercy. It's all been done before at this point. You can always make the argument about who is copying who. But, when the timing is so close it's obvious it's been copied. Even when TNA beats WWE to the punch, people call them out for copying. Some people boldly call out TNA for copying things they didn't even copy. Just the other day I had an argument with someone who said the Menagerie was a copy of the Wyatt Family. They're nothing alike. The Menagerie is closer to Kizarny or Doink than the Wyatt Family. But, that's just another case of TNA copying WWE. We all know WWE doesn't copy TNA except when they do.

  1. I should say not. I mean, who could ever deny the uniqueness of Katie Vick? Or what about the epic feud between Vinnie Mac and God? And let's not forget the time the Chairman of the Board "died" on live TV! Yep, truly unique ideas!!

    1. While those are unique ideas can we say any of them are actually good ideas? Kane as necrophiliac, Vince taking on God, that one just sounds ridiculous. Can we even count the time he "died" because he was right back the next week because of Chris Benoit's death.

  2. Wow talk about digging. For one WWE had a black faction only a few months ago in PTP and AW. AW wearing the suit just like MVP.

TNA fans were silly enough to say WWE were copying TNA by going to Japan the other week even though that tour had been booked in February and they go every year, can't wait until TNA fans say WWE are copying them by hosting shows in NYC..

    1. Abraham Washington was fired 2 years ago & was not a wrestler like MVP. Also Prime Time Players were a tag team. A faction or stable means more than 2 people. Nobody said WWE was copying TNA by going to Japan or hosting shows in TNA. You seem to be rejecting reality and substituting your own.
