Anime Fathers Are Bad

Have you ever sat back and read your favorite manga, or watched your favorite anime and said to yourself "Wow, those parents suck." I do that a lot. Even when I can't stand my parents I sit back and think how much worse it would be if I were in an anime. I've taken the time to sit and create a list of some of the worst fathers in anime/manga (Because mothers deserve another post). The list isn't in any specific order. Just a list of bad fathers.

Goku: Would any list be complete without Goku? Sure he looks like a great guy in that picture but lets take a few things into account here. Goku has no problem leaving his family. I'm not talking about going to Namek to save their planet. He really has no problem leaving to go train Uub. He didn't ask his kids if they wanted to go, he didn't invite Uub to stay at his home. He just left. Lets not forget he never rushes home to see his family either. When he left Namek he went on a galactic tour because Piccalo is Gohan's real father. I can understand the neglect of Goten because I'm not even sure Goten is Goku's son. I'm pretty sure Goku was dead before Chi Chi got pregnant. Why was Goku dead? Because he'd rather die than face parental responsibility. He's always dying on purpose. "Piccalo, here's how we beat Radditz, shoot me through the heart" or "Here's how we kill Cell, I'm going to blow up with him." Sometimes he doesn't even die. He just doesn't go home for a few years. It's like his family only sees him when the world is about to blow up or there's a martial arts tournament.

Ging Freecs: You know what, even Goku would call Ging a bad dad. Ging didn't bother to die so he didn't have to raise his son. He just left Gon with his cousin and said "Here's a baby" and then left for over a decade. But that's not the worst part. Ging basically told everyone he met "Hey, I got a son named Gon, when you see him, try to kill him." Sure he didn't exactly say that but he told people to fight Gon without holding back. So you end up with convicted murderers attempting to kill a 14 year old kid through a game of dodgeball and it almost worked. On top of that, Gon still wanted to see Ging and do you know what Ging did? He kept running. The way Ging dodges Gon you would thing he has a warrant out for his arrest or something. Just hug your kid Ging, that's all he wants. But here's the worst part. Ging had no problem raising Kite as his son.

Charles zi Brittania: Here's a question. If a child dies in the sky and the father isn't around to hear it, does the child make a sound? Doesn't matter to Charles. He's directly or indirectly responsible for the deaths of most of his children as well as his wife and most likely millions of others. Then he shrugs it all of with an arrogant smirk. I honestly can't think of a good thing this man has ever done. At least Ging and Goku save the world, Charles just watches it burn. 


Gendo Ikari: So Gendo neglects his son and uses his dead wife's soul to. You know what, forget I said that. It's best you find out on your own. Lets talk about how Shinji basically spends most of the series begging for some attention only to be neglected. Sadly Gendo thinks if he shows Shinji any love he'll just become weak and die, well, we see how that's done great wonders for Shinji's mental health. In Shinji's own words "I am so fucked up." Seriously the kid is crazy. Maybe you could take a 15 minute break to give the kid a hug, and tell him not to masturbate over passed out women. That's a sign of future rapist if I ever saw one. If he's a rapist that's all your fault.

Shou Tucker: When Shou was introduced in the series I thought he was a genius who still found time to take care of his daughter and have great breakthroughs in alchemy. Then I couldn't wait for him to catch a bullet to the head or something. Seriously this guy is dumb. I say dumb because he was worried about running out of money to feed his daughter Nina, his solution, combine his daughter with a dog to create a chimera. What was he thinking? If I combine her with the dog, I'll only have to buy dog food for one, that way I save money. Shou you were a brilliant man but you were also a sick twisted evil bastard driven by money so much that you forgot your initial motives. Then you try to bring Nina back. Why would you even try to bring Nina back? Did you feel bad about basically killing her? In fact you didn't even kill her. Nina begged Scar to kill her. She begged to die. You did that to your child.

Sad part is this list doesn't even include the people who just abandon their kids. Sorry Yusuke, Ash and Yugi. Your fathers could not be found. They're with the other anime fathers nobody else knows.
