Hyolyn - LOVE & HATE Album Review

Now Hyolyn's album came out back at the end of November and I downloaded it the same day it came out yet I didn't review it. I only listened to it once, letting it sit on my hardd rive for 2 months.  Two days ago I decided to watch the "Loving You" MV by SISTAR which lead me to watching the video for Hyolyn's track, "One Way Love". I fell in love with the song. It was 3 am which is peak "in my feelings" hours. I had school in 4 hours but the crushing love and loss of being in a one sided relationship weighed on my heart like dumbbells.

I followed up by watching the music video for her song "Lonely". At this point I was devastated. I wallowed in a pit of sadness. The emotion and euphoria Hyolyn was able to convey in these two songs spoke to me on another level. The song tells the story of being lonely yet putting up a facade of being happy. At some point in life we've all done this. You can hear the pain in her vocals a she croons being lonely.

I decided to listen to the full album which sent me on an emotional spiral. Love & Hate is a great album that expresses every aspect of a relationship. From the loneliness one feels from not having a partner to being overwhelmingly in love on "OMG". On top of this, the lyrics relatable while being personal. the production matches Hyolyn's style of switching from Pop tracks like "Tonight" and ballads such as "Falling". Despite being very enjoyable, this album does well in highlighting Hyolyn's strengths. Its one of the best debut albums by a solo Kpop star.
