The internet is going wild. Is CM Punk gone for real? People are speculating and it's been going on all day. Word is CM Punk went home and isn't coming back. People are begging for his return. Some like Corbin are crying over his exit. But not me. I say good riddance. Best of luck in your future endeavors Phil Brooks, if it was up to me you wouldn't come back until you got a reality check.
I'll admit, Punk has gotten the short end of the stick in a lot of story lines. But lets be honest, there are guys who have gotten a lot worse than CM Punk. Let's look at JTG. JTG was in the most over tag team for years in WWE. He never even got a tag title reign. Six years and JTG hasn't even touched a championship belt. But CM Punk was blessed with that ECW Championship shortly after his arrival and skyrocketed to hold almost every major belt in the company. Meanwhile JTGs tema was broken up and he hasn't been on tv since early 2013 and hasn't won on TV since even longer ago. But CM Punk has it hard.
Does CM Punk even do promotion for the company? I know Kofi Kingston does almost as much as John Cena. Do you know why? Kofi is a likeable guy, unlike Punk. Kofi even did a solo tour of the middle east and he's never even been blessed with a major championship. Is the road schedule in WWE hard? Yes but Punk is a bigger star than Kofi and arguably has a lighter schedule. Also, unlike Punk, Kofi has a new baby to take care of at home.
Was CM Punk a paper champion? Yes, but he also had one of the longest title reigns in modern history of WWE. Sure he had a lot of crappy reigns, but he isn't Alberto Del Rio, but you already knew that. Do you know how to tell if WWE is taking a tour of Mexico soon? Del Rio will get a championship. Do you know how to tell when WWE is leaving Mexico? Plans will be made for Del Rio to drop the belt. Do you rember Dolph Ziggler? CM Punk isn't Dolph Ziggler, that's a paper champion right there. Do you remember his championship reign? Nope, what about Jack Swaggers?
CM Punk didn't main event every time he was champion, neither did Miz. On top of that when Miz did main event, he lost. Does anyone remember Miz's championship match at Wrestlemania? No, because he got shown up by The Rock and John Cena. Punk could always be Cody Rhodes, pretty sure he just dropped the championship to two guys old enough to be his father.
I understand CM Punk being upset about guys like The Rock and Batista showing up to main event out of nowhere. In fact I think it's bullshit, make them earn those spots. But what CM Punk doesn't understand is this is a business, and it's not his business. It's like HHH says "it's what's best for business." I grew up idolizing The Rock. I don't want to see him looking like Scott Steiner, failing to kip up because he's too big. But I understand that he brings ratings. The same goes for Batista. I don't think you saw my tweets during the Royal Rumble, I was pissed, that was Roman Reigns' moment. But Batista is a star, and he brings ratings, unlike Punk. I remember those ratings being kind of low when you were champ. Where were your fans when you needed them?
I don't dislike CM Punk completely, I think he's a hell of a wrestler and cuts great promos, but CM Punk thinks he's irreplaceable and he's not. There's only so long WWE will put up with CM Punk's crap. It seems like every few months CM Punk is on twitter throwing a fit over his position in the company or he's at a convention talking about how he hates his job. Honestly it's getting a little old. Billy Gunn once told Vince "What are you going to do? Fire us?" and the next week the New Age Outlaws were free agents. Vince is the king of doing what's best for business.
In fact I don't even think CM Punk is that special. He does Macho Man Randay Savage's elbow drop and it's not even that good. Give up on that elbow and go back to the Anaconda Vice. CM Punk claims to be the best in the world but Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler are right in the same locker room, imagine how many are better in the world. The IWC likes to pretend that CM Punk's promos are visionary, but they aren't. They aren't anything special. CM Punk's pipebomb isn't anything that Carlito didn't say in 2009. But Carlito is not an indy darling.
I'm going to sum this up by saying there's an entire locker room of guys not named John Cena or Randy Orton that would kill to have CM Punk's spot. But he's not happy with his spot, he's signed a contract, but he wants to leave. I'm tired of old guys hogging the spotlight too. I'm tired of seeing Cena vs Orton too. But I'm even more tire of CM Punk's fits. Phil grow up and be a man, we all hate our jobs, but we keep going or quit. If you want to quit, go ahead. I promise I will never miss you. You don't want the spot, move over and let someone else shine. CM Punk took his ball and went home, but there's plenty of guys who want the spot and they brought their own balls because they came to play.
