The Walking Dead Season 2: So far so good!

When the world goes to shit, being a little girl isn't an excuse.
Hey guys Jazputin here, new to Blerds Online. I decided to make my first review, about a game I literally finished the other day. Telltale Games 's The Walking Dead Season 2 episode 1 : All That Remains. Now disclaimer, if you haven't played the season one of the game, I suggest you do so because this will contain a few minor spoilers, it can't be helped since this is a second season for a game. Although I would hope most of you guys have played it since it is a phenomenal game, even if you don't like the walking dead the story will grab you, seeing as this is the first game I have ever played that made me cry. (Season 1 is just that good I'm telling you) Anyway, lets get started with this review shall we?

So to start things of I guess I can tell you about how the game works. The game is episodic, splitting the story into 5 parts. The game is stylized like The Walking Dead comic, a cartoony kind of appearance, which might through some people off but trust me its an M rated game. The player has to make choices such as what to say in a conversation, who to help out? who to not help? which greatly impacts the story and it carries over, for example. Maybe you were a jackass to someone in episode 1? Well in episode 2 he's covering you while you are being attacked by zombies maybe he still remembers you being a jackass and his aim might not be so good because of it, get what I mean? Now mind you the main thing about this game isn't that you're going to go around shooting hordes of zombies, I mean if you would like to do that you can play the...other The Walking Dead game, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, etc. No this game is more about making quick decisions, survival and dealing with the most unpredictable and potential dangerous thing out there,... human interaction.

Awe so cute

Now, if you are like me, you want to play something that is going to have a memorable story, and well it doesn't get any better than this. Season 1 as I said earlier left me in tears. You play the first game as a man named Lee Evertt, a convicted felon, that killed a guy his wife was cheating on him with (Lee was keeping it real). The zombie apocalypse happens and you eventually end up taking care of Clementine. Clementine is an 8 year old girl, whose parent's were away on a trip out of town when everything went to crap. As Clem's protector she relies on you and in some cases you rely on her, she learns from you and you do anything to keep her safe, anything. You meet some people and well, shit happens, like if anything that could go wrong, does in fact go wrong, and poor little Clem must leave the side of Lee, but with her is all the knowledge Lee has taught her in their time together.

Careful Clem!

Here we are Season 2 episode 1: All that remains, Clem is now 11 with 2 people from the previous group which in about 2 minuets it turns to 1 member of the old group. Clem and another member of the group Christa get separated because of an ambush by some dudes who want to steal from them, and let me tell you during this sequence Clementine could go pro in the NFL, girl got some moves. She ends up falling in a river and pushed far away from where we begin the story. Clem, now on her own must navigate through the woods. Not gonna lie, waiting for a zombie to jump out was terrifying. I'm not gonna go in to much detail because you should play the game but let's just say Clem gets bit by something big, and is almost about to go down for the count being surrounded by the undead and fading in and out of consciousness. She is quickly rescued by two men Luke and Pete, who are more than happy to help the girl, until one of them notices the huge bite mark in her arm. Thank goodness Pete is willing to not leave a little girl to die and brings Clem back to the group, of course Clem passes out from fatigue only to wake up to people talking about her. This where we meet the rest of the group. There's Carlos, the doctor. Sarah, Carlos's sheltered/odd daughter. Nick, Pete's trigger happy, aggro nephew. Rebecca, a pregnant woman who is well...a bitch with a secret and Alvin, Rebecca's passive husband. I have a feeling that this group is going to grown on me but will they live up to the season 1 squad is still way too early to tell. Still, the new group has potential. Anyways after the "friendly welcome" Clem is locked in a shed to see if she is going to turn or not. Well let's just say little Clem is a badass and doesn't want to wait for her arm to get worse and end up killing her so she does some splinter cell type ish to help her arm. The last bit of the game has you go with two of the new members of the group when, once again shit goes down and ends it on a super cliffhanger.

This game was simply amazing, the suspense kept me simply on the edge of my seat, waiting for the story to unfold..I can't even contain myself waiting for episode 2 which should be coming out sometime in January or February. You can't help but love Clem and want her to survive this nightmare world. Clementine can either be cold and uncaring about others or she can still hold on to the humanity and faith in the world that Lee had before her, it's really up to you. Listen, I'm going to be blunt with you....PLAY THIS GAME, play season 1 that did outstanding and was even made into its own retail game. It won a crap ton of awards, even people that don't like the show like this game, and I have high hopes for season 2. I'll be doing a review on the next episode when it comes out in 2014, cheers.
