Shutup. I felt I needed to say that before you responded, I know you all have a habit of talking non stop. Look, we all like anime and manga. I've been reading manga since One Piece stopped airing on Fox every Saturday morning. That's a long time if you remember those days. But I rarely tell people of my Otakuish behaviors. Why is that? Because nobody likes Otaku and that's your fault elitist. You make us all look bad and creepy.
There becomes a point when you stop liking and you start obsessing. That's when you become an Otaku. You become an elitists when you begin to exhibit several characteristics. The first is your love of Japanese culture. But wait, we all love Japanese culture. You however have become an elitist and reached new levels. You now rant about how Japanese culture is the best culture on the planet despite the fact that you've never been to Japan. Japan isn't all about manga and anime. Japan is the place where you can buy the panties of underaged girls in vending machines. Now that's just not right. But that doesn't matter because you're an elitist.
Another characteristic is an extensive creepy collection. We all have some kind of merchandise. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a Trafalgar Law T-Shirt I wear around my place. Shirt is mad comfortable homie. The current wallpaper on my laptop is Akira and I recently bought the Casshern Sins series. But that's not obsessive. When your dwelling becomes disgustingly cluttered with merchandise from various manga and anime you're creepy.
Once you begin to define a person's worth based on how much money they've sunken into collectables and box sets, you're an elitist. Also please don't pretend that we don't know what you're doing with those body pillows plastered with the face of your favorite female characters. You should keep that kind of stuff to yourself. Which brings me to my next point.
Stop with your porn. Look, we all like pornography, but you don't see the rest of us telling you what we like to look at in our private time. Why do you feel the need to let us know you like tentacles? Do you know how annoying it is when you rant for half an hour about the things you could do to Erza? It's creepy just like when a friend describes in detail his sex life. We've all got kinks, just stop sharing yours. Everyone else keeps it a secret. Except the weirdos. Do you want to be a weirdo? Don't answer that.
Please stop correcting people. I don't mean you can't tell someone they're wrong. Just don't be a asshole about it. It's one thing to correct a person and another to degrade a person. Too many times Otaku Elitists can't just correct someone, they feel the need to tell them why their life is worthless. Stop, that makes everyone look bad and people become hesitant to embrace the genre.
Next if someone doesn't know about anime you should just tell them when they ask. Telling them to kill themselves isn't the answer. Wale the rapper asked about anime on twitter. Do you know what happened? People called him a hypebeast (A person who follows whatever is trendy at the time) and told him to kill himself. I'm not joking. Here's some proof. --->
I'd like to note October 6th was a Sunday and Wale had a show that Saturday night. Do you know what happens Sundays from 12am-6am? Toonami a 6 hour anime block. Entirely possible he was in his hotel and came across it. But his curiosity was ended in one night by random internet fans. I'd also like to mention Wale doesn't rap about belts he's actually got a reputation as a conscious rapper and a lot of his music is closer to spoken word than rap anyway.
Besides the point. Wale has expressed no further interest in anime. You elitist did that. I understand that you want to protect the genre but if someone is interested you shouldn't wish death on them. This happens way too much. Maybe we wouldn't be so secluded if we opened up a little. Which brings me to my next point.
You might be shy, but go outside. Seriously it's weird to not to have some kind of social life outside of forums. Go out meet some people, go to a party, go on a date. Please don't become a shut in. You'll just look creepy if you never go outside other than to buy more snacks from the foreign culture aisle of your local grocery store. Just do it. If you have to meet someone from the internet and hang out.
Last point, shut up. A lot of arguments happen because an otaku elitist has to say something like "You're not really an otaku because you only like mainstream stuff" or "Well your opinion doesn't matter because you like _____" or "______ is the greatest of all time and if you disagree you're stupid and dead to me." All of that needs to stop. Everyone likes different kinds of manga. My favorite is One Piece, but most of the manga I read is in the Seinen category. What does that say? It says that you can't judge a person from one manga they like. In fact you can't judge anyone for what they want to read. If a person wants to read nothing but Jump, that's their right. If someone doesn't like the same thing as you, don't try to discount the quality of their opinion.
I hate you Otaku Elitists. You're the reason I've never called myself an Otaku, I don't want to be associated with you. Outside of social media I don't tell a lot of people I like anime, because of you. You may think people like Wale showing interest are hurting the culture but in actuality it's people like you who attempt to build walls preventing others from entering yet allowing you to push others out.

I think you made some good points but hate is a really really REALLY strong word. Some of us don't do all of the things you've mentioned. I've never told anyone that they should die, I've seen it but it wasn't me. I don't want anyone to die.
ReplyDeleteI admit that all of you don't partake in the mentioned behaviors but you have to admit that a large majority do.
Deletewale is still lame and you know it lol
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie, I talk about doing anime chicks but that's once every two months. Sometimes it does suck to be an anime fan because of people who marry body pillows and stay inside all day. I just think we need to kill these people so that the world will be a better place (lol, jk).
ReplyDeleteI dislike this kind of thing too. I've asked on a forum about anime and they told me to get lost. I'm no Otaku, but I enjoy anime. So when I ask about anime, I would rather be told an answer to my question rather than a curt, offensive remark.
