Comic Book Cheat Codes

We all know video games have a wide variety of cheat codes. But what you didn't know is comic books also have a wide variety of cheat codes. A comic book cheat code is when something happens that defies what is usually possible. There are a lot of these and you probably didn't notice them. I'd like to give you a list of the top 5.
1. Destroy X-Mansion: Do you know how many time the X Mansion has been destroyed? I don't but I know it's a lot. There has to be a cheat code to destroy the X Mansion. It's destroyed in at least half of the X-Men story arcs and it's always rebuilt, yet it's never rebuilt any stronger. It's just destroyed again. It's not just the comic books either, the television show, the movies and even video games. I'm not even a big Marvel fan, but lets see how many I can list; A demon chasing Kitty, Juggernaut didn't "destroy" it but he was knocking down walls, Sidri leveled the mansion, Mr Sinister blew it up, Onslaught destroyed it, and Xorneto destroyed it. That's off the top of my head. This happens way too much. Someone has to release a patch for The Marvel Universes to remove this code. I just can't deal with it being destroyed again. How does Charles do it?

2. Healing Factors: They're cool and can really make a character shine but we really need to define these things clearly. Too often a character will be wounded by something like a bullet and still take time to heal.I hate to pick on Marvel again, but Wolverine has to be the biggest exploiter of this. We need to sit down and create some rules for him. Shall we take a look? Being blasted by Cyclops, Iron Man's Repulser, Magneto removing his adamantium and the Punisher shooting him in the testicles then running him over with a steam roller have all caused Wolverine significant injuries that take him time to recover from. Based on that some of his other injuries should have still killed him. Lets look at some examples he easily bounced back from. The first that comes to my mind is the Hulk ripped him in half and tossed his legs miles away. Wolverine blacked out for an hour, then he just crawled back to his legs and continued his day. Yep, his entire lower half was ripped away from his body yet he didn't bleed out or anything? How did all of his organs stay in place? But that's not even the worst. In Astonishing X-Men he fell to Earth from space and walked away. Now that's astonishing. I won't even mention the time he was cut up to nothing being left but a skeleton and then tossed into lava. He should have been dead long before he hit the lava. These healing factors are out of control, lets not even talk about Deadpool, Deathstroke or Superman healing from death. Wait we'll talk about Superman later.

3. New Universes: Please stop, you're confusing us. Anytime a writer does something fans don't like they just transfer that story to a new Universe or in DC's case just restart the entire universe. Remember when Miles Morales was introduced as Spider-Man and Peter Parker was going to die? The internet went wild. We even learned that members of the KKK enjoy comic books. So how did Marvel respond? They moved Miles to the Ultimate Universe and kept Peter alive in the regular universe and they even had a crossover. As for DC, I've lost count how many universes they've created, merged, destroyed and most recently they restarted the entire DC Universe.

4. The Flash: Numbers four and five are characters. I guess you already know Superman is number 5. I hate Flash. I don't hate Wally, Barry, or Bart. Jay shall not be mentioned. I hate the hero Flash. How fast is The Flash? As Fast as he needs to be for that story. We've seen him go fast enough to phase through objects. That's acceptable. But wait, he gets tired running around the entire planet in one go. So you can move fast enough to bypass particles without getting tired but you need a snack break to go from The United States to The United Kingdom? Are supposed to ignore these inconsistencies? The movies are worse. In the films we've seen him move fast enough to open alternate dimensions and reverse the flow of time, then spin his arms fast enough to fly. Flash even cheated his way into the justice league. He's not taking out top rank villains, he's beating guys like Mirror Master. He's the master of mirrors. He even shares Calender King with Batman and Green Arrow. He's going part time with a D rate villain.

http://bigotherbigother.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/superman-01.jpg5. Superman: Superman is the king of cheat codes, not just cheat code characters. We've seen Superman revive from dying at the hands of Doomsday. Superman sometimes gains new powers. No sunlight in sight? No big deal Superman can heal himself just by touching sunflowers. There's a reason Superman was kept away when Black Adam was killing everyone. Superman would have cheated. I've already acknowledged how Flash is a cheat code, but Superman is worse. Flash and Superman have raced 3 times, It's always been a tie. How? Flash has one power. Speed. Superman can apparently match that speed. Why is the Justice League necessary? Superman can just do everything himself. He's clearly eliminated The Flash's usefulness without even trying.

Honorable mention

  1. Shazam (Captain Marvel)
  2. The Incredible Hulk
  3. Discovery of new element with perfect timing
  4. Batman shows up with a solution
  5. Batman doesn't have a healing factor but he heals really really fast

Can you think of any comic book cheat codes?
