Half demon, half human, son of Satan. Kind of brings up a huge question. Satan has a son? Why, yes, yes he does. Two to be exact. But the main one? None other than Rin Okumura, main star of the popular Shonen anime, Blue Exorcist.

Blue Exorcist is the story of a 15 year old boy named Rin Okumura. Rin is a high school dropout, and and a trouble making kid. He's always gotten himself into fights when he was younger, mainly because people kept calling him a monster. He lives in a church with his brother, Yukio Okumura, and his father who happens to be a priest and high level exorcist, Father Shiro Fujimoto. Little does Rin know, he is the son of Satan. His mother, who was full human, gave birth to him and his brother, yet only Rin is half human, half demon, while Yukio is all human.

Rin finds out he is the son of Satan the hard way. One day while he was working at his job, he finds this little girl that is being attacked by a demon. Everybody thinks that the girl is crazy, thinking that she's imagning things, but Rin doesn't. He sees this demon and attacks it, protecting the girl, but at the same time, costing him his job. After the incident, he continues to see demons, until later that night, he is attacked by one, who is also half human and half demon.

Father Fujimoto later tells Rin that he is the son of Satan, and that "this is only the beginning" of the demon attacks. He shows him the demon sword and tells him that he must learn to control his power, otherwise, Satan will overtake his body and turn him into a full fledged demon. Later at the church, it is attacked by a swarm of demons. While fighting them off, Father Fujimoto is killed protecting Rin, which boils up Rin's anger, releasing his inner demon, and starting up the whole series.

Now enough talking about the story and plot, and tell you the good things about this series. Blue Exorcist is a rather interesting stroy. Here you have it, demon boy, raised by a human, and finds out the shocking truth behind his story. As the srory progresses, you find out more about Rin's powers, and how good he can handle them. He's a short fuse waiting to blow up. He has a temper, but will always protect anyone that needs help. He has one goal in life, and that's to "beat the shit out of Satan". He won't stop until he reaches his goals.

He enrolls into an academy to learn how to become a better exorcist, which is ironic because he is half demon. That's where he finds out his brother is a top level exorcist, and also Rin's teacher. In the acedemy, he meets many friends who are also studying to become exoricsts. Now the one person that Rin really cares about is this girl named Shiemi. He first encounters her while on a shopping trip with his brother. This is kind of his love interest, if you put it blankly. He protects Shimei when she is attacked by a demon, and the two become great friends.

Rin changes a lot during the story, finding out whether to accept his fate, or continue his journey on the path to comfront his father. If you watch this show, you'll never want it to end. Sadly the anime only has 25 episodes, but the manga goes beyond where this story leaves off. With 11 volumes and going, Blue Exorcist is a must watch for anime fan of Shonen type series. It has some heartfelt moments, but the action is really what you're here for. Not every episode is action packed, but when the fighting starts, you sure as hell know that shit's about to go down.

Overall, Blue Exorcist is a show for anyone. It has action, great story, and in my opinion, a great dub. Now I know that I said I don't like Bryce Papenbrook's voice in Sword Art Online as Kirito, but as Rin, I'd choose this dub over the sub anyday. His performance makes Rin sounds like the badass he is. He's also joined by Johnny Young Bosch, who plays Yukio in the dub. Together, these two make the English dub very enjoyable very pleasant. So now that I said all this, what are you waiting for? Go watch this show! You won't regret it.
