Girls Day - Girls Day Everyday #5 Album Review

Girls Day are back with their 5th installment of the "Everyday" EP series. With this album the girls did not disappoint. The lead single "I'll Be Yours" starts out with a 50's themed beat but the bass quickly drops making for an interesting combination of of pop and hip-hop. The song has seamless transition between the two. The song never feels too old or too new. This beat was well crafted. The song's lyrics are about a man whose too scared to embrace his women. The lyrics aren't anything special but they're good enough to sing along to. My only problem with the track is that its too short with only being 3 minutes and 10 seconds. I feel like this track could have benefited from an extra verse or maybe a dance break.

The following track is Thirsty. Upon my first listen I thought the song was about sex, The beat surely gave off that feel but when I read the lyrics I realized its about a relationship that has no spark or moisture. Using dried lips and wilted flowers as metaphors for a failing relationship was clever. My favorite aspect of the song is the beat. Girls Day is one of the very few idol groups that actually incorporates trap layers to fit into the song with purpose instead of having them because everyone else is doing it.  "Love Again" follows and starts the trend of slower songs. I love the guitar here, I wish it had more influence on the overall song.

We get two solo tracks from members Sojin with "Kumbaya" (Come By Here) and Minah with "Truth". I just love the piano on Kumbaya, its complemented with the drums and Sojin's powerful voice. The way she sings Kumbaya on the chorus is lovely. Overall a solid track. I always love Minah's songs so I was excited for Truth. Minah did not disappoint. The composing here is great. Synergy between the beat and Minah is at 100%. I have nothing bad to say about this track.

"Don't Be Shy" is the closing song besides the instrumental for "I'll Be Yours" The bells here are great. I thought this was a great way to end the album, on a high note with some positive vibes. I have to say, this album was well crafted with no complaints on my behalf. I enjoyed each song thoroughly. With this being said, I have to rate this album a 3.5/5. A solid project that I'll be listening to for the rest of the year.
