Black Superheros: Hardware and Steel

I'm going to try to celebrate black history month by posting about black super heroes every day. Some post may be longer than others but, work with me on this, I'm going to give it my best shot.

Hardware

You may not recognize him but he was a creation of the late Dwayne McDuffie. If you don't recognize that name, please leave my presence immediately. I'm not joking just go away.

Quick Bio

Curtis Metcalf was a scientific prodigy from a young age. His education and living expenses were covered by Edwin Alva. All he had to do was work for Alva's company. He did so but after several years he asked for a cut of the profits from his inventions. Alva refused & Curtis could no longer ignore Alva's illegal activity and took on the monicker of Hardware. He wasn't always on the right side of the law because he didn't mind killing Alva's goons. Sure he was taking drugs and guns off the streets but he was killing people to do it. We all know justice is black and white so you can't do that.

Equipment

• Obie: on board computer that pinpoints opponents weaknesses and creates battle strategies
• Neural Net: Imagine a tazer in net form that keeps a person incapacitated for twenty minutes
• Plasma Whip: Exactly what it sounds like
• Sword: It changes size at his command, 18 inches or 30 inches doesn't matter it's sharp
• Various: He creates special weapons for opponents. His red sun laser to cut through Superman's flesh for example.

Steel

John Henry Irons is a bad ass, lets just say that. Seriously he was the top dog when it came to looking for a replacement for superman.

Quick Bio

I honestly don't get him. He was a former weapons designer, but he decided to work construction after a midlife crisis. What happened? He fell off a building and almost died before Superman saved him. Superman told him that he needed to change his life for the better. That's right folks, Superman wasn't an asshole for once. John decided to design his suit to fight the forces of evil. This was for a Superman comic, but John was so damn popular he got his own comic book. How's that for fan service?

Equipment

• Armor: If you can think of it he has it, flight, strength, endurance, life support. Except no bathroom.
• Cannons: Yes the man with the giant hammer also has cannons on his wrist like KAPOW!
• Solar Power: I'm counting this, he uses solar cells to power all his equipment why hasn't Cyborg done this. That's why he got cut from this post.
• Hammer: It's big, it hurts, it's also remote controlled, in case he needs to beat you down from a distance.
