Why Many Wrestling Fans Legitimately Hate Watching Crowdless Wrestling

Any wrestling fan whether they’re a young casual fan or an older hardcore fan would definitely tell you that wrestling’s greatest strong suit has always been the real crowds in attendance because they’ve always been the deciding factor in regards to which wrestlers and storylines get over and which wrestlers and storylines aren’t good enough to get over yet.

And some of the biggest moments in the history of wrestling have happened in front of real crowds at the arenas & my favorite example of this is when KofiMania was born after Mustafa Ali was injured by Randy Orton in early 2019 and Kofi Kingston who has never even got a world title shot in his 11 years with the WWE was finally given the opportunity and the real fans at the arenas were fully behind KofiMania to the point of chanting Kofi every time he came out and performed in the ring and then at WM35, Kofi’s memorable run to the title was finally complete after capturing The WWE Title in a phenomenal match he had with Daniel Bryan in front of a massive crowd at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

2020 is by far the absolute worst year in wrestling history for us as wrestling fans either as casual wrestling fans who have been watching for less than 10 years or older wrestling fans like myself who have been watching wrestling since either The Golden Era of the late 1980s thru early 1990s or during The Monday Night Wars in the late 1990s. 2020 has been an absolute atrocity in the world of wrestling from The #SpeakingOut Movement to The Current C-Virus Pandemic that has wrecked havoc in all sectors of the world which has led to heavy travel restrictions in many countries, many businesses shutting down, as well as many wrestling promotions being shut down due to the current pandemic.

Here are several legitimate reasons as to why many wrestling fans legitimately hate watching crowdless wrestling tv shows.

It Takes Away The Enjoyment Of Watching Modern Day Wrestling On TV In Front Of Real Crowds - One of the biggest reasons why many wrestling fans legitimately hate watching crowdless wrestling tv shows because they feel that they have been robbed of being able to watch the weekly wrestling shows in front of a real crowd that they as viewers at home can connect with. And for this reason, many wrestling fans have basically stopped watching modern day wrestling on TV all together until the real crowds actually return to the arenas.

The Rapid Decreasing Popularity Of Modern Day Wrestling On TV - The popularity of modern day wrestling on tv has never been at an all time low as it is now. The biggest example of this is Monday Night Raw because even when they did have real crowds the ratings were slowly going down and down. One of the biggest mistakes that WWE has ever made was to make Raw a 3 hour wrestling show 8 years ago this month that marked the beginning of the decrease in the show’s viewership which has only been greatly accelerated by the crowdless wrestling tv shows that has caused many wrestling fans especially casual wrestling fans to completely tune out of watching modern day wrestling on tv all together by either flipping channels or playing a video game because let’s be real, these crowdless wrestling tv shows are completely unwatchable period & there’s absolutely no disputing this fact.

It’s No Longer An Escape - For many of us wrestling fans, we always saw wrestling as an escape from either real world issues, personal issues, or mental health issues. But these crowdless wrestling tv shows have taken away the escapism effect that wrestling has had on us since many of us were kids and these crowdless wrestling arena tv shows are extremely difficult to watch because you’re constantly reminded of what’s going on outside of wrestling to the point of us feeling depressed and angry about watching these very unwatchable crowdless wrestling tv shows.

Their Favorite Wrestlers Can’t Get Over In A Crowdless Arena Setting - One of the biggest reasons as to why many wrestling fans legitimately hate crowdless wrestling tv shows is because of the fact that their favorite wrestlers haven’t been able to really get over in a crowdless arena setting. An example of this is Current WWE Champion Drew McIntyre who has a pretty decent run as WWE Champion, but let’s be honest, he hasn’t been able to truly get over in a crowdless arena setting which has greatly hurt his title run which could’ve not come at the worst period of his career. If he was the champion in front of a real crowd, he would be massively over with the real crowd at the arenas.

The Conclusion - I have deliberately refused to watch any modern day wrestling on TV until the real crowds return because like many other wrestling fans, these crowdless wrestling tv shows absolutely does nothing for us but make us feel depressed and angry about watching them which is why many of us are not big fans of these crowdless wrestling tv shows at all because there’s always something special about watching a wrestling match in front of a real crowd on TV.
