Sunmi - Heroine
Of course my queen would make the list. "Heroine", like "Gashina" is an anthem bu this time of different meaning. This song is molded after the heroic tales of great love whether we reach them or not. This song though not the happiest, inspires hope. As the lyrics say "the show must go on" whether in love or not. Also it's great to hear Sunmi over a softer song compared to Gashina.
Drug Restaurant - Her
This is my introduction to Drug Restaurant. "Her" came out on January first and is dedicated to the UK fans from the UK tour they just did. The song is about a breakup that reminds me of peak indie rock during the 90's. It even reminds me of late 90's Japanese rock. I'm glad I finally decided to listen to them because this song makes me tear up when I get cozy in bed and thing about all my ex's. Its an amazing song to cry to.
Jorja Smith - Let Me Down
Our lord and savior Jorja smith blessed us with a new single featuring Stormzy. The song is a powerful ballad about a failing love. Hearing here voice in a ballad is a nice switch of pace compared to her poppy track last year with Preditah. Though I usually don't care for UK rap, but I enjoyed Stormzy's verse her. Jorja delivered once more.
Kassy - I Want Love
Kassy dropped a great pop song that also showcases her great vocals. A perfect fusion of a club banger but a great song to listen to in bed. The song comes with an EP of the same name. As I listen to the song I can't help but feel sadness. Not because the song is sad but if it were released here in America it would be all over the pop stations. Maybe its killing it in Korea. Nonetheless its a dope song that should be enjoyed by all.
B.O - Coffee
House music fusion of the beat drew me in but B.O's singing made me stay. His voice is so sweet upon such a catchy crystallized song. The song is so upbeat that once its over you can;t help but want to replay it again. The entire comfort album is amazing but that is the best song on there.
Part Time Cooks - Dope Dealer
PTC delivers a slowed banger about pushing music in the streets like crack. The metaphors in this song are dope. The beat goes hard and the raps are tight. Black Moss rapping in Zulu was great to hear as well. I'm just getting into the duo so this is my first time hearing rap in Zulu. Black Moss flowed so well I didn't realize he was rapping in Zulu the first time I heard it. The song is a banger yet is puts you in a certain mindset with its slow beat. Its definitely a car jam.
Dreezy - 2nd To None
Dreezy released another banger with the help of 2Chains. I never knew I wanted this to happen but I'm glad we finally got it. Dreezy treated us to two great verse upon 2Chains' verse and hook. She came back for more when we thought i was over and beat our asses. The beat is dope as hell keeping you begging for more.
E Sens - Real Thing
It may be a demo but damn "Real Thing" is such a dope song. the beat is amazing and mesmerizing.
E Sens with the slow rhymes over the beat that just pops in your ears. This song was made for me to fall in love with this man and I'm not gay but I'm gay for this song.
Clarity - Dirty Boy
Kidd King, Young Lion, and Donutman linked for their debut album *(asterisk) this month and recently released the music video for the track "Dirty Boy". The song is mad chill but still a slight turnup number. Its produced by newcomer Sentrum. Teh boys trade bars about being dirty yet clean as hell at the same time. Its a dope song for the car.
Swings, Jvcki Wai, Kid Milli - Hyperreal
I'm going to be honest, when I saw this song had dropped I was super skeptical of what it would sound like. I'm not a Kid Milli fans and Jvcki's 2017 was mediocre and they both have such different styles compared to Swings but I was wrong. This song plays up to Jvcki's strengths while Kid Milli and Swings deliver some good raps of their own. Xindoel is on the beat and they killed it. The song is such a banger and just sound so fun and light in my ears.
