There are some movie worlds that would be really fun to live in. There are others that would not be fun. There are also films that would be really fun to live in if you were a main character, but not so much if you were anyone else. I put together a short list, because everyone likes lists.
1. Spirited Away
I know you're thinking it's such a charming movie and you're wrong. It's a thinly veiled horror movie. Gods and demons walk around this world. Her parents are turned to pigs. Death waits for you around every corner. I'm pretty sure No Face would scare a lot of people senseless. Not me because my masculinity is fragile and I'm a tough guy who doesn't get scared. But really think about it, a 12 year old probably wouldn't think much of it other than a fun film. A 5 or 6 year is going to be freaked out at the possibility of their parents turning into rampaging pigs. A swamp demon destroying everything around it. Again, No Face is basically the blueprint for Slender Man.
2. The Matrix
All the bad guys were just Agent Smith. All the people who weren't in the resistance were allegories for God or locked in a human battery. Humans aren't even good batteries but that's where you'd be. It's where I'd be. Most of us aren't special enough to be super powered resistance fighters and I just don't think Gods walk among us. So we're batteries. That's not a good life.
3. Every Comic Book Movie Ever
Yeah sure, Superman and Captain America are there to save you. There's also constant alien invasions. Constant city leveling destruction. Yeah it's cool New York can bounce back but every year it just gets wrecked. Gotham is a horrible city where if you get arrested by Batman you get killed in jail. That doesn't happen in Metropolis but alien invaders leveled the city trying to make it their new capital. Maybe I'll just move to Africa...until Hulk and Iron Man run through and have a brawl destroying miles of landscape. Superheroes are cool but damn, nobody wants to live through that.
