Giriboy - Mechanical Album Album Review

When you think of Giriboy you may think about a lot of things. Giriboy is a rapper but he's always done more than just standard Hip-Hop as he's done collaborations with Idols and other pop stars. With his third album Mechanical Album, he's fully crossed that border into more Electro Pop. I enjoyed this album but it lacked Giriboy's personality.

"I'm in Trouble" with Loco, "You're A Medical", and Zoa are 3 of my favorite songs from the album. When I first heard Zoa I was surprised at how good Giriboy could pull off this style of pop with his own style of Hip Hop. Zoa has very good lyrics with this new production and it works completely. On "I'm in Trouble" it doesn't work like that. The lyrics are pretty decent while the beat is amazing. That's how some of the songs on this album are. Giriboy sacrifices his lyrical ability to make more Electro Pop dance songs, but on a lot of songs like Zoa and Because You're Pretty it works.

Panic is a great song and it reminds me something Tyler The Creator would make especially the ending of the song. I love Panic because we saw a side of Giriboy that we rarely see. He went hard and cursed, which something he rarely does as well. This is the type of song lots of Giriboy's fans would love to see him pursue because its different from the songs about love. It actually may be my favorite song on the album.

Giriboy is a great lyricist. A lot of his songs are about love and that's okay because he does it in different ways. His songs read like poems when you read the lyrics and everything just clicks. I love this album a lot. The production on this album is better and more upbeat compared to Sexual Perceptions which is very gloomy but his lyrics were so alive. Mechanical Album is a mix of both and it does it well but I actually miss his gloomy side a little. I rate this album a 7.5 out of 10
