Image Expo just finished a few days ago. A convention where
Image Comics shows off new and upcoming series they will be publishing. New, old writers and artists come on stage to present their new content. A lot
of the new series look great and if you haven’t seen my previous list, go and read
it here: http://www.blerdsonline.com/2015/07/six-ongoing-image-comic-series-you.html
In celebration of the expo, I thought it was appropriate to make another list of some notable ongoing Image series. Image tends to have a lot of quality stuff so here are 6
more series that I think are worth a fair shot. All of these are ongoing and
the last mentioned title is from DC’s Vertigo publishing line. Will be keeping the synopses short and simple as to not spoil anything for you good people.
6. Rat Queens – Currently being drawn by Tess Fowler. Was previously drawn by Roc Upchurch and Stjepan Sejic, but is still being written by Kurtis J. Wiebe. Read my review on it: http://www.blerdsonline.com/2015/06/comic-book-review-rat-queens.html
5. Deadly Class - Rick Remender brings us another gem (art by Wes Craig). Read my recommendation about DC here: http://www.blerdsonline.com/2015/07/comic-book-recommendation-deadly-class.html
4. Monstress - Steampunk meets Kaiju? Need I say more? This series is about Marika, a young woman with a concerning heritage and ambiguous past. Follow her as she attempts to find answers in a world where human wage war against oddities and apparitions all while Marika tries to suppress something dark deep inside of her very being. Written by Liu Marjorie and drawn by Sana Takeda.
3. Pretty Deadly - Art by Emma Rios, story by Kelly Sue DeConnick. A bloody, western horror tale with a some mythology mixed in. A story about the journey of the daughter of DEATH: Death-Face Ginny.
2. Nailbiter - Welcome to Buckaroo, a town that has given birth to the worst serial killers. A town that constantly keeps producing serial killers. Written by Joshua Williamson and drawn by Mike Henderson , Nailbiter is a thrilling story where our protagonists must find out the secret behind this town and where these serial killers keep on coming from.
1. Sunstone - Lesbian BDSM! Okay it's more that just that. A smart narrative that has two woman explore themselves through sex. Great themes and artwork. Story and art by Stjepan
Sejic.
Honorable Mention: American Vampire - Created by Scott Synder and Rafael Albuquerque, written by STEPHEN KING & Synder and drawn by Albuquerque & Mateus Santolouco (Dave McCaig, colorist). It's a story about Vampires. I don't really know how else to explain it but it's good! DC Veritgo, not Image.
