The Most Overrated Anime Is...

On many social media sites, forums and from talking to people in general, this season had apparently birthed an anime so great it “single-handedly saved this anime season.” From comments that said “this is easily the greatest anime ever created” to “all anime should learn from this show”, there was no wrong this anime could do. So instead of waiting for this anime weekly, I waited until there was ten episodes so that I could binge most of it in one sitting. The time finally came, I sat down and for four episodes, I was intrigued and then … nothing. I finished the ten episodes then finished the story by reading the manga and all I can say is this. I’m done anime community, you cannot be frigging trusted. Erased is the most overrated piece of shit garage I have ever watched and I wish I never fucking bothered.

            
I knew better y’know. I should have known anime fans lost their God damned minds when I was seeing tweets like “this is a better time travelling anime than Steins;Gate.” How fucking, DARE you. NO. It’s not even close to being as good as the Steins;Gate anime and as a matter of fact, the anime isn’t even very good. It’s definitely not BAD, but with all the hype surrounding it, it should have been so much better but it was barely average. Fuck Erased and fuck you guys that over hyped it.

           
First of all, the show never bothers to explain how in the maximum fuckage the main character, Satoru, can time travel. Not one. So we just have to be okay with the fact this piece of shit character can just go back in time. You see, every once in a while Satoru experiences something called “Revival” where he relives about one to five minutes of a moment in his day because he needs to stop something bad from happening. For example, a kid getting hit by a bus. Why can he time travel you ask? I don’t know. Who or what phenomenon gave him this ability? I have no fucking idea.  How does it work or get activated? Shit, I wish I could tell you but the story never freakin' tells us.

            
Secondly it’s really misleading. You’re kind of led to believe that the main character would be jumping back and forth between the past and present while evading authorities (won't spoil why) but really you just spend the whole damn story in his sixth grade time period. So yes, it’s another damn elementary/high-school setting anime, not one with adults. The characters aren’t really interesting minus Kayo (who in herself isn’t that interesting). A.k.a generic anime shit. 

           
This is supposed to be a thrilling, suspenseful mystery. The main character goes back in time to stop a bunch of murders amongst other things (not spoiling it) but one of the things he has to do is catch the murderer. If you don’t by about episode 5 know who the murder is you, are, dumb. DUMB. You are fucking stupid. It was way too obvious, so obvious you want to believe “no way, that’s too easy, there is some kind of twist here.” Nope. It’s exactly who you think it is and his motivations for doing what he does is boring, laughable and uninteresting. 

           
Lastly, since I want to be done talking about this shitty anime let’s get this out the way. The final act, the end game of the story is complete horseshit. It’s visual Nyquil, it’s anticlimactic and again, the viewers should feel tricked because once again the story kind of misleads you. And not in the red herring way like a good mystery should, just straight up tricked. In addition to that, the anime omits important scenes from the manga to the point I want to tell you to go read the manga instead, but the artwork is so bad you’ll go the fuck blind.

In summation, shit’s kind of mediocre and you guys hyped the fucking fuck out of this anime for no damn reason. This anime has nothing new to offer, the manga is ugly, the story is boring, the characters aren’t interesting and this is the worst mystery narrative ever. AND it’s nowhere near Steins;Gate level. Don’t read it, don’t watch it and literally suplex anyone who fucking praises this anime because it’s not very good. Fuck Erased.
