Lee Hi - Seoulite Album Review

Lee Hi has released the first half of her second album Seoulite. The album consists of 5 songs with features from Hip Hop Artist Dok2, Mino of Winner and Incredivle. Since its only 5 songs at the moment I will use a rating scale of 5 instead of 10.

The album starts out with World Tour featuring Mino. The song is about blocking everything and everyone out and just going on a plane to enjoy yourself. This is the banger of the album. Its a cool song with nice vocal ability and rapping with cool lyrics and a nice beat that is memorable and gets you moving. It is successful at fulfilling its role on the album. Its a great intro song to propel you into what is the album. The next song is Hold My Hand which switches up from Hip Hop to R&B with a 60's feel to it. The lyrics are mildly decent and the chorus is repeated more often than there are verses but this is where she stretches the words and lets her singing ability shine more. I do wish there were more verses but as it is I am enjoying it.

Breathe is the only ballad and slower paced song on the album. The song is about breathing one's pain away and how she will be there for them during their need. With this song we are able to witness her singing ability blossom. With the second half I hope we get more songs like this. Official with Incredivle is my favorite song. The lyrics, beat and rapping just make for a great song. The tone of her voice and the beat are just infectious. FXXK WIT US is a typical song about a strong couple and how nothing and no one can tear them apart. The highlights of this song is of course the beat which was produced by Code Kunst. The other highlight is the bold statement of the word "fuck". Lee Hi really took that word and put so much power behind it which makes it stand out and adds greatness to the sultry and mysterious beat. Code Kunst needs to make songs for movies and video games.

This album has a great contrast of an R&B singer that can do Hip Hop. She doesn't seem out of place on any of the Hip Hop heavy songs. What I also like about the songs is that the rappers didn't come on for some mediocre verse that are forgettable. Each rapper had two verses that stuck out. Lee Hi being a singer didn't overshadow or sit in the background of her rapper counterparts. This album was well crafted in showing all of Lee Hi's abilities and giving other talent shine. This album is on repeat for me and is pretty good. I rate this album a 4/5. I can't wait for the second half.
