Black Supervillain: Slyde

"Thank goodness those police seem to be uninjured. I don't mind helping myself to a few bucks but I'd hate to be responsible for anyone getting hurt"

Jalome Beacher - Slyde

Jalome Beacher is a funny guy. He should have been a comedian instead of a criminal. Not that he was always a criminal. Originally after a normal childhood he became a chemical engineer. He worked for Beemont Manufacturing where created a chemical application that would remove friction from an object after it was applied. Before the product could be revealed Beemont went broke and was purchased by a much larger company. He decided he would leave and start his own company founded on the chemical. Sadly, no banks were willing to provide him with a loan.

To get the money he created a suit with the chemical that would allow him to rob banks. He managed to escape Spider-Man and the police. But like I said, he's a bad criminal. He was giving interviews, felt too much sympathy and ended up giving away some of the money. While attempting to rob Beemont's labs instead of money or tech he found out that they were now a money laundering operation for Rockwall. He decided to do the right thing and call the district attorney to set up a trap.

He then called in Rockwall promising to return the evidence for a bunch of money. Instead Rockwall hired a bunch of goons for an ambush. Spider-Man learned about the plan but had no idea the police were involved. So he showed up to warn Slyde. The police, Spider-Man and SLyde managed to fight the goons off. Spider-Man went to congratulate Slyde on turning his life around from criminal to hero in such a short period of time. When he turned around Slyde had already escaped with all of the money securing a lifetime of comfort for himself.

Next time the two met was in Atlantic City. Slyde was tracing dirty money. The money was being used by a crooked financial broker named Carl Jenkins. He managed to steal a large amount of money but was shocked to find Spider-Man, who was there with Aunt May. He forced Slyde to leave the money behind.

Soon Slyde was in trouble for stealing money from the Maggia Mob. They kidnapped his brother Matt. Slyde is not a fighter. He hired Luke Cage and Heroes for Hire to get his brother back. Spider-Man even showed up to help out. Afterwards Slyde was recruited to be a member of the Masters of Evil. They tried to get rich by blackmailing the world with a weather machine. The team was taken out by Thunderbolts.

Slyde was already living comfortably but around 45 he had a mid-life crisis. He changed his suit to look like a ninjas and hired some goons to help him rob a bank. The thing is, he just wanted to fight Spider-Man so he can have some street cred despite being mostly retired. Fighting isn't Slyde's strong point so of course Spider-Man won. However during the fight Slyde stopped to give an interview. Of course it was a made up story. Eventually Spider-Man took him out. Jalome could only laugh stating "I went toe to toe with Spider-Man. Middle aged ain't so bad."

While Jalome was in jail his brother Matt stole a spare costume. He took a job from Spot but when he showed up Matt was already dead at the hands of Elektra who had been brainwashed by The Hand. Later he was revived as part of Hydra's army to take on SHIELD. However Matt was killed again by Wolverine this time.

When Jalome was freed before Civil War he was hired by Hammerhead. Hammerhead claimed he wanted to protect villains from Ironman's army. However Slyde figured out this was just a plan to take Kingpin's territory. Slyde left and once outside he was shot in the back of the head to prevent him from possibly informing Kingpin. Then his body was left in the middle of Hell's Kitchen.
