This is the first review of the Strawberry 100% series. If you didn't know, I will be reviewing all 19 volumes of the series every week. You can read the brief description here. Volume 1 consist of chapters 1-8.
Like any normal kid his age, Junpei our Main Character has dreams. Dreams of becoming a famous Director and meeting girls. In the first chapter Junpei meets a girl on the school roof with nice Strawberry Panties and she is just stunning with her face as well. She runs away because, well, her goodies were just show to some random dude. I'd run away as well. This girl turns out to be the nerdy and quiet girl in his class that everyone seems to always forget about. On top of that she wears classes and two long braids instead of the no glasses and long haired girl. Also, Junpei is weird for trying to find a girl based off panties like she's going to wear the same panties everyday. You lose points kid.
Junpei has two friends named Okusa and Komiyama. Komiyama is ugly and dumb compared to the handsome and smart Okusa. Honestly I don't know why Okusa hangs out with these two. Is it to make himself look better? Komiyama loses points as well. Not because he's ugly but because he truly thought the Strawberry Panty Girl was Tsukasa Nishino. Is he stalking her? Junpei sort of makes up for his points because he did say he wanted to see her panties fly off. I mean what's the point of finding a girl if you don't want to see what's under her panties?
Aya and Junpei are destined to be together because she writes the stories and he directs them. This is a power couple if they do get together. Too bad he likes Tsukasa. She's cute and all but Junpei was easily able to talk to her as well as share his passion with her. But there is one thing I like about Junpei, He isn't intimidated but girls like most harem main characters. He's not a bitch either. He's just a regular middle school boy. There is no over the top bitching with him. And, Aya's way more prettier than Tsukasa. I usually love the short haired woman but Aya is taking me by force. I'm rooting for her in this love triangle.
At least Junpei got a girlfriend faster than any main character in the history of any fiction. Tsukasa is fast though. She just accepted his lame plea and then gave him her phone number later. She doesn't even know this dude. What's his favorite color, drink, food, porn site? Might as well gave her number to Komiyama. Junpei's lucky. He has a girlfriend and an extremely cute girl to teach him stuff. I would be playing fields at this moment. Morning Girlfriend Aya and Evening Girlfried Tsukasa. Now I know what you'r saying, "He's a pig", but Tsukasa did leave Junpei for cherry pie. That would put her on side girl status with me. But I do feel bad for her. She feels Junpei isn't really into her and we all can see that. He's an idiot who can't keep a phone number and he doesn't even talk to her during the passing periods. Nugget Head Junpei he is.
Overall this was a pretty funny and interesting story. The story is well paced and nothing seems rushed. From the first volume alone I can tell that it will break the cliche boundaries that are Harem. Junpei isn't a bitch and he likable. He has a good group of friends and he even got a girlfriend. He could have a mistress if you know what I mean. My favorite part of the series has to be the Dean. There is a rumor he doesn't even own a long sleeve shirt. Extra stuff like that is what makes a series even better. Sets them apart from usual comedy and antics. I'm looking forward to what happens in the next volume next week so come back then.
