Album Review: Jim Jones - A Dipset Xmas

Yeah, you read the title correctly. Jim Jones has a Christmas album. It's called a Dipset Xmas because most members of Dipset make appearances to do some diplomatic Christmas carols. The biggest issue, there's no Cam'ron. Are you telling me Cam'ron doesn't have the Christmas Spirit? He couldn't come do a rendition of Jingle Bells or Rudolph? Also, this is an album, not a mixtape. Jim Jones wanted people to purchase this in stores and I'm sure someone flipped out in a music store because they ain't have no Dipset Xmas in the serato.Without further rambling let's put on our Santa hats and dive into A Dipset Xmas.

I will admit I am not a Jim Jones fan because every thing rhymes. It all rhymes. "We fly high, no lie, ride range rovers, same color as Grover, blam blam, jam jam, fam fam, fam BALLIN." I don't think Jim Jones is a good rapper at all by today's standards. He probably would have killed it back when Busy Bee was what people wanted to hear. What I'm saying is I didn't expect to get anything but laughs out of this. That's good because I didn't get anything but laughs out of this.

I have to admit, Jim Jones should just do Christmas albums. When rhyming over Christmas beats Jim Jones just fits. It fits because, like I said earlier, he rhymes everything. It works for a Christmas album because it's supposed to be fun. It should be enjoyable and funny.

Lyrically Jones is going to be Jones. Still, he provides plenty of laughs through the album. You can't say "You can tell Kris Kringle, when he in the party he can bump my single," isn't funny. Also notice how he rhymed "Kringle" with "single." He does that the whole album. Rapping like Jim Jones is simple. It's Nursery Rhymes for drug dealers.

My favorite song on the album is "If Everyday was Xmas." What if every day was Xmas, things would be pretty cool. Jones reminisces on Christmas' past. Some Christmas were great and he got a lot of gifts. Sometimes he didn't get anything. But, he still wishes every day was Christmas because it's a day when there isn't any drama and now he can give his girl and kids everything they want. Also, the hook on this song is pretty awesome. What do you think was on Jim Jones Christmas list? Probably foreign cars, champagne and a Cam'ron feature.

A Dipset Xmas is a horrible album and I mean that in the best way possible. It's the ugly Christmas sweater of albums. It's not like other Christmas albums are exactly great. If you're down for a few laughs this is the album for you. Also the "We Fly High," remix is on this album. Jones was treating you to a gift the whole time.

Hey, I write stuff, a lot of different stuff, that's all.

  1. Starting this review with "Yeah, you read the title correctly" was perfect because before this post I never would have thought such an album existed. Hell, I'm still not sure I believe it. And Jim Jones is not a good rapper by just about any era's standards, but this does sound like fun.

    1. I didn't actually believe it until I pressed play. It just seems like such a random thing. Jim Jones really is a bad rapper but this one is good for a few laughs.
