Primary - 2 Album Review

Primary has released his second album after 3 years. For those of you that don't know, Primary is a South Korean Producer. He produced all of his songs and enlisted rappers and singers for the vocals. "2" has 12 songs some of which were pre-released like Mannequin and Don't Be Shy. Enough of the background, lets get to the album itself.

The ambiance of the album is similar to his first album "Primary and The Messengers" but also very different. The majority of the songs are about love and feature more singers than his first album. There are only a few songs that aren't about love such as Mannequin featuring Suran and Beenzino. When the song was released back in June I was excited because I like Primary and Beenzino is my second favorite Korean Rapper. I knew nothing of Suran but to my surprise she has an amazing voice. Beenzino had one small verse which led Suran to carry the song along with the instrumental. Her voice is so addicting and that's what led me to fall in love with Mannequin. Mannequin is about not giving in to the regular or model beauty standards that you see on TV or in this case, mannequins in a store window. The music video is great because it tells the story of a female who yearns to become like said mannequin.

Hello featuring the lovely Lena Park is about women skipping out on those boring days of work and getting their nails done. Their nails lead to empowering them to just have fun and not stress out over things. The music video was funny and the song truly is good. Lena Park's singing is a perfect match for this upbeat song. I can see this song charting big time. The other songs are pretty much about love and being together unlike "Just Like U" featuring Jessi and Yankie. The song is about only liking someone. Pretty much a booty call like relationship with no strings attached. Its about only wanting to do this and that without love. I like the song but I don't like a lot of the heavy cursing on Jessi's part. I felt like a few of the curse words were not needed, especially in the beginning monologue.

I enjoy this album a lot. There are addicting songs like Mannequin, Don't Be Shy, Mileage, Rubber but it doesn't compare to his last album. I feel like the reason it doesn't surpass it, is because this album only has 12 songs, where as the last one had 20. Not only that but he had some of the best rappers on every track. This album mostly features singers so its not that much of an Hip Hop but more of an R&B album. I'm fine with that. I give the album an 8/10. I definitely will be replaying this album over and over and I truly recommend it because the production is really good.
