Manga Spotlight: Ao Haru Ride

I just finished reading Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride) and I’m happy to say that I’m satisfied with what I read. I had the chance to watch Ao Haru Ride when the anime adaptation first came out and the anime had me intrigued enough to read the manga. Before I get any deeper, let me give you guys a little bit of background information on this series.

Ao Haru Ride was created by Io Sakisaka and the story focuses on a girl by the name of Yoshioka Futaba. Futaba falls in love with a boy named Kou when they were in middle school, due to family related issues, Kou had to move away. A few years later Futaba and Kou reunite in high school. Do they still have strong feelings for each other like they did in middle school? Did Kou change? What else happens?

I’ll let you guys decide that once you read the series. I don’t really feel like elaborating more on the story since this article isn’t a review of the series. I do want to point out a few things before I end this article. The art style of Ao Haru Ride is GREAT! If you really like detailed art in your manga then I’m more than sure you will like Ao Haru Ride.

Also if you’re a fan of shoujo manga and anime then you will like Ao Haru Ride right off the bat. The anime is pretty great as well. Overall Ao Haru Ride is a solid shoujo series that will keep you interested and invested in the story. If you’re not into shoujo then this may not be a series that you would want to invest in due to it being directed towards females. Still I would recommend this series to anyone really. Ao Haru Ride is only 53 chapters and each chapter is at least 40 pages each so this series is a nice read. Try some shoujo sometime and check out Ao Haru Ride.
