Future Idol Sensations: MAMAMOO

Last week was the first Installment of my new series Future Idol Sensations. I covered CLC and now its MAMAMOO's turn. Mamamoo debuted in 2014 with Mr. Ambiguous. When they debuted I didn't take much head to it. I thought they were just another typical girl group especially after seeing the teaser images with them wearing the same dress but in different colors. I did not think they would be much. Fast forward a year to July a month after releasing their second mini album Pink Funky. I was recording an episode of my Korean Pop Podcast Chicago K Pop when I came across the music video for Um Oh Ah Yeh and did a live reaction to it. I instantly fell in love with the group and proceeded to listen to their other music.

Everything about Um Ah Oh Yeh was Perfect. All of the members vocals and Boon Byul's Deep rapping pulled me in from the first syllable. This one song showcases the girl's talents with a catchy beat and lovable lyrics. The music video was great as well.

After Listening to Pink Funky, not only is it one of the best K Pop albums this year but also made it up to my Top 5 K Pop Album list for 2015. They come in at #5 climbing over CLC's First Love. The entire album is so good. All of their talents are shown from vocal heavy songs to songs that are cool to dance to like Frekin Shoes (my second favorite song on the album). The point I'm trying to make is that this group is destined to be mega stars like Wonder Girls and Generation. Their fan base is quickly rising and their music keeps getting better. Side Note: Mamamoo remind me of Miss A for some odd reason. Nonetheless I can see them being the top girl group along with WG and SNSD. Even climbing over Miss A, F(x), and SISTAR. There isn't a doubt in my mind that they can't do it. They are an authentic group that will tear down the charts with their burning soul.
