Verbal Jint - 10 Years of Misinterpretation Album Review

Another Edition of Vintage Reviews

Verbal Jint is one of the biggest influences in Korean Hip Hop. I'm not here to give a history lesson on Korean Hip Hop but I can if you want me to. But just a quick note. This man is a legend. before his rhymes were lame but he introduced a better rhyme scheme and changed the game ever since. Now we take a look at one of his albums and my personal favorite, 10 Years of Misinterpretation.

I've only been listening to Verbal Jint for about 9 months now but he has music that stretches over nearly 2 decades. This album was released in 2012. This is relatively one of the best Hip Hop albums I have listened to production wise and rap wise. The album covers love, life and happiness. Mostly Verbal Jint's rise to fame and recognition of his career.

VJ's perspective on this album is a subtle approach with the lyrics about being in love, out of love, celebrating and living a healthy and enjoyable life. Even the choice of production is an example of this. The instrumentals are really upbeat or or mellowed down depending on the song. Perfect day and Life Music are considerably upbeat while She's gone is pretty sad. Even the emotional song Its Got To Be You is a cross between upbeat and mellow. Nonetheless each song has splendid production.
Very crisp and a new approach to hip hop with lots of jazz instrumentals.

Another new approach to the album is the featuring. 6 of the 11 songs have features and the majority of said features are singers. Different from the rest of his albums that have features. This album is no doubt great. From the lyrics, production, flow, to the singing, will have you dying to listen for eternity. I give this album a 9/10. I highly recommend you listen to this album whether you are a Korean music fan or just a hip hop fan in general. This is a must listen to album. You can find this album on Spotify.
