JASMINE - Gold Album Review

Another Edition of Vintage Reviews

Japanese R&B artist Jasmine graced us with what is probably one of the best albums of 2010. I got into Jasmine one night while randomly searching some Japanese music site(don't remember the site) back in 2013 right before she released her second album Complexxx. Gold is her debut album which blew my mind away. I was not expecting Jasmine to deliver such rich R&B songs in Japanese music scene. Or at least not in this decade.

Her debut album Gold is my favorite out of her 3 albums released so far. Gold is R&B with a few hip hop and pop influences. The structure of the album is great. The first song Pride is about her finally reaching the grand stage and never giving up. It gives advice about never giving up your dreams as well. The next song is Sad to Say a love song about unrequited love. Next is LIPS a song about kissing and then Jealous about being in a jealous relationship. The 5th song Bad Girl is about how people call her a bag girl because of the way she lives her life but she consists o pursuing it till the end.

There are more songs on the album but that was just a precursor. The songs range from love songs to expressing who you are, loving friends and living out your dreams. Its an ideal album packed with everything you would expect from an R&B artist. The first time I heard it I couldn't put it down. Her singing is beautiful as she can hit high and low notes. She has a beautiful voice. All of her beats are pretty catchy and will make you dance or just groove to it.

I guarantee that you will love this album male or female, Japanese music fan or not. LIPS is about kissing but trust me guys, you will move to this song. I give this album an 8/10. It is a very good debut album that put her on the stage as a great R&B artist even when she moved towards pop with her next two albums. This is an album worth buying.
