For those of you who listen to Korean Hip Hop, you will like this. For those of you who don't, you'll do three things. Read the article and listen to Korean Hip Hop, leave now, or read the article and just keep it moving. Either way, this article will be read. With that being said lets get into it.
All music in Korea is pretty underrated unless its Pop. Pop is Korea's favorite genre. That's just how it is. Even though its underrated, the Country still loves Hip Hop. That being said they have crazy fans just like we do. Maybe even stupider. There are three forms of rappers there. Mainstream and underground of course but the third is called an Idol Rapper. Idol rappers would be our pop rappers like Iggy Azaela. The difference is that Idol Rappers are relatively good.
There is a show in Korea called Show Me The Money which about rappers competing to show their rap skills ass winning a lot of money. All kinds of rappers compete including mainstream, underground, idol and just random people on the street. The show is currently on season 4 and because of the last season where an Idol Rapper won, lots of idol rappers came tot he new season. 52-56 in total. People, fans and rappers are complaining that SMTM is only about the Idol Rappers now. This is not true.
Only 16 or less idol rappers passed the first round. Out of 7000 contestants, 106 went on to round two. 52 went to round 3 and out of those 52, not even half were idol rappers. Underground rappers were the vast majority. Last season rappers made it as well such as Ja Mezz and Black Nut. Now we dive into the class that is idol rappers.
Idol Rappers Jooheon, Bobby, and Mino competed in SMTM. Bobby won last season and the other two are currently competing. People were mad that Bobby won because he was an idol but that's not true. Bobby is apart of the Group Ikon that has yet to debut. Bobby is technically still an underground rapper. He has yet to become an idol. Mino has debuted in the group Winner but he can't be considered an idol rapper.
This is where Korean Hip Hop fans become stupid. If you love hip hop and hate Idol Rappers, you would know who Mino is. He was in the underground scene way before he joined Winner last year. He was making music alongside his cousin #GUN, current rappers Zico, Hanhae, Taewoon, and Kyung. The fact that people don't know this is weird as hell. you call yourself a "real hip hop fan" but don't know that Mino is a great rapper. Jooheon debuted in the group MONSTA X this year but also competed in survival show No Mercy to get that spot. If you watched No Mercy, you would know that Jooheon is a monster rapper. The man has no limits. He was praised for his rapping, energy, and lyrics by popular rappers Mad Clown, Giriboy, Vasco, and Nochang.
You love Hip Hop yet you don't know what a real idol rapper is. Vernon no doubt is an idol rapper. He sucks. There are more put I decided to point him out since for some reason San E saved him from elimination in round two. That guy sucks. He can get better but as of now he's trash. The grandmother from round 1 was better than him and I'm not lying.
I'm finally going to end this article now. Not all idol rappers suck because have you heard Rap Monster and Suga from BTS? IM and Jooheon from MONSTA X? Junhyung from BEAST? Zico, P.O., and Kyung from Block B? Kemy from A.KOR and LE from EXID? These are your rappers yet you are dissing them. I'm Sick Of You Korean Hip Hop fans as well as american fans who like Korean Hip Hop but don't know anything.

You listen to Kohh? He is a Japanese rapper, the Japanese rap scene may be on the come up! I need to listen to some K Rap but I don't know if I'm ready for that commitment. - Drake T
