I am pretty new to Giriboy. I first heard of him on Show Me The Money Season 3 and then on label mate Swings' album Vintage Swings. From then on I saw and heard him more and more. I kind of new Giriboy was going to be releasing an album so I decided to lay off of his previous music until now. Now is that time.
Giriboy steps up to the plate and delivers his usual soft flow with hard hitting lines. Giriboy even gets more aggressive in this album. Before I forget, Gigriboy likes anime. In the lyrics for Outro he quotes, Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, and Bleach. This is a valid reason to like him even more. On the song adult we can hear a more mature Giriboy as he tells the story of a past love but from a more mature side. Its a love song but a typical one with the sad background music and what not. He leaves the sad love song for Take Care of You with the same instrumental on Swing's song Protect. I like both songs but I would have to give it to Giriboy because of his more sincere lyrics.
Now I said that this was a more mature Giriboy but on the song Back and Forth in 30 minutes he portrays that typical stage of the relationship where you are dating but don't want to fall in love or get too close. I think this relationship is called a Some Relationship after the popular song Some by Soyou and Junggigo. I like this song a lot. Its also one of the more upbeat songs on the album I can relate to this song a lot so it is kinda my favorite but that doesn't mean the other songs don't compete.
Even though this album is more based on relationships in the majority of songs, I still enjoyed this. I think this is a good to great album that everyone should check out. I do wish that it was more aggressive than it is because I think Giriboy has the potential to be a top rapper not only on his Label Just Music but in Hip Hop period. He has a unique flow that no one can copy and he uses this to the best of his abilities. This being the first album I heard by him, I won't go into the assumption that he can't go hard because he can and has done. Listen to the Don Remix on Vasco's album Code Name 211.
I give this album a rating of 7/10. I think it could have been better but for what its worth, this is a great album. I just hope that Giriboy continues to make great music down the line. He could be the next Tablo. If you watched Show Me the Money and listen to Epik High you know what I Mean.
